Our biggest splurge is our bedroom furniture- solid walnut, and jaw-droppingly GORGEOUS! The chest and dresser were handmade and cost $6000 (amazingly, this was actually a good deal, as I saw a similar but less nice set priced at 9000). We decided to splurge and get one nice set that should last forever.
What is your biggest splurge?
ETA: I meant non-wedding splurge?

What’s the category? For our home I guess it is our bar, it really wasn’t all that expensive but it’s unncessary to have a fancy bar in the apt, so I guess that makes it splurgey.
In general we like fancy beer adn are definitely the $12-a-6pack type.
For the wedding it’s our band! 1/5 the cost of the venue lol but really awesome!

My camera gear. I have about $15,000 in camera lenses, filters, tripod, flash, and camera backs. I use it all the time though, so it helps me feel less guilty!

We recently splurged on a washer/dryer. I love it so, so, so much! We could have gotten cheaper ones, but I love my front loaders, and not going to the laundromat anymore.

All our stuff is junk. I mean, like IKEA furniture I bought post-college and every move we make, I’m shocked when only some of it craps out forever. I have to check my clothes for holes before I wear them to work. We don’t even own a dining room table. I can’t be bothered to fix any of this (granted, we live in grad school housing, so it’s hard to see our apartment as adult and permanent).
But we spend a TON on travel. We fly cross country 2 or more times per year minimum, take weekends away around northern California as much as we can, are pretty much always up for weddings, parties, etc for our friends even if they require flying cross-country for a weekend.

The biggest thing…. I would have to say our house. We went over budget by about 22%.

@Entangled: Oh, I should have said travel actually! Duh! We take trips to other countries 2-3 times/year and are really into adventure travel (which gives me lots of photography opportunities, yay!). We are getting ready to backpack through Asia for 6 months in a few weeks. Definitely a splurge to quit your job to travel! (Maybe I blocked out the cost 😉 )

Probably travel. We do a few mini trips throughout the year, and hopefully after the wedding we can start doing 1 big trip again. The FI’s family lives all over the place, so we visit them alot and while there usually end up slurging on nice dinners and stuff/

Food, we love trying out restaurants and cooking. The amount we spend on food each month is pretty disturbing.

Probably just my Coach bags. Other than that, I don’t splurge on a ton of stuff. Fiance & I loooove going on cruises, though.

Fiance and I splurge on DIY projects around the house. Last year we ripped up the entire lower level and put in unfinished wood, which we then finished. We’ll never do this again. ha
This summer we ripped up our driveway and put down brick pavers. It looks so much better.
We save a TON of cash by DIYing, but it sure takes a lot of time and a fair amount of cash.

We moved into a fablulous apartment at the top of our price range and it is SO WORTH IT!!!

@moderndaisy: I remember your posts about apartment-hunting. So glad it worked out so well!

Definitely our electronics. We just recently bought a top of the line iMac to add to our little Mac family that consists of a macbook, macbook pro, mac mini, macbook air (in a few weeks) and an iPad or two (among half a dozen or so iPhones). We also have a pretty sick 52″ Samsung LED TV and a few smaller flat screens throughout the apartment.
On the other hand, we’ve never been on a damn vacation!
