I think we’ll be close to $15,000 for 45 ppl. The majority is for the venue & catering and the rest we are pretty frugal about. Our rings cost $1500 combined (e-ring included), my dress was $380, we are not going on a honeymoon because we will be returning from a 3 mo backpacking trip, our honeymoon suite for the wedding nite is free, and I am doing inexpensive invites and minimal flowers since the wedding is in a garden.

We wanted to spend around $10k for 80 people but it’s already up to $15k and it’ll probably get even higher. This blows my mind as there are SO many things we’re going without and this doesn’t include our honeymoon.

Here is the budget I put together today:

Marriage License

Wedding Invitation Design

Wedding Invitation Printing

Save the Dates Design

Save the Dates Printing

Wedding Bands

Bridal Gown

Bridal Accessories

Groom’s Suit

Groom’s Accessories

Hair and Makeup

Wedding Cupcakes

Sound System Rental

Day-Of Coordinator

Tent Rental

Oh, that table didn’t come out right at all. Anyway, we are using an iPod (no DJ), my hair and makeup will be free from my SIL, all invitation design is free (we just need to pay for printing), and I have a friend making cupcakes and a coworker acting as a DOC. Our photography and floral budgets are tiny. And it’s STILL costing all that money. It’s horrifying.

We are going to be at $15000 including rings, rehearsal dinner, honeymoon and a place for my parents to stay.  I had originally wanted to stay around $10000 without the honeymoon and thankfully my parentings a chipping in ~$7000 but time for shopping/DiY vs what we wanted to provide our guests has won out.  Our big expense is food and alcohol the day of at ~$7000.  With 75% of our 80 person guestlist flying or driving in from out of state (or across the country), we really felt like we wanted to provide a full meal rather than going the cost effective Friday or Sunday route.  Here is what my budget looks like:

Venue/food/ceremony/alcohol(wine and beer.. it is a vineyard): $7150

Parent Lodging for 1 week: $800

Lodging near venue: $350

Cake: $560 (a fun great design and yummy cake that fits us aka splurge)

Dress: $216 (clearance and fit off the rack..)

Accessories/shoes: $300

Flowers: $384 (local flower farm)

Rings: $1300

DJ: $600

Misc: $500

Favors: $225

Invites: $250

Tuxes (x3): $400

Hair: $200

Rehearsal Dinner: $500

Photograph: free (uncle is a prophotographer)

Honeymoon: $1000-1500 for a national park/outdoorsy roadtrip week away (ahh…)

about $23,000 for 140 people in downtown philadelphia

plus another $5,000 for 40 people in thailand. we both work in bangkok and had a sort of part II destination wedding on the beach in krabi for our friends in asia and friends and family from back home who wanted to make the trip to celebrate with us again and have a vacation.

Yeah, New York weddings are insane.  We’re estimating around $30k for about 70 people, rings and honeymoon not included (though we will get some of it back thanks to tax deductibility).

Wow, over $60k would surely be a great party! If I was a millionaire I’d put a good amount of money for the best party ..um I mean wedding. A few years ago I went to Mexico to my friend’s wedding. She held it at an old Hacienda that is now a hotel and it was amazing!

Free drinks all night, huge party, half Spaniards, half Mexicans (the husband was Spanish) and it was one of the best nights I have ever had. They surely spent over $60,000. They easily had over 300 guests.
