@wstonesifer707: are you including rings, attire, or just the reception cost?

We’re shooting for $3500, but it’s a backyard wedding so we’rer not paying for a venue, which is a big expense

We were looking at $10K but, after starting the planning we are just under $15K. Which still is not to bad. This includes everything but, the honeymoon.

our budget is $20k right now but there are things that we haven’t accounted for yet and we are already at out budget, i’m thinking it will be around $22k when it’s all said and done. what’s crazy is that it’s only about 100 guests :s

unfortunately, the Fiance has a big family and we’re already close to 30k… I’m not happy at all!

Perhaps add a few more choices to the poll?  I don’t usually like to post on budget stuff, but I don’t feel the economy has really affected our choices.  I mean, don’t get me wrong, we are trying to get the best deal we can with our vendors.  I think you have to take into consideration the type of wedding (brunch, formal dinner, multiple events for lots of Out of Town guests, etc.) and geographical location.  We are around $55k, not including honeymoon.

My Fiance is European, and we really couldn’t ask his family to spend thousands to fly to the US for a cake and punch reception.  Our budget includes a welcome dinner, rehearsal dinner, the wedding reception, and brunch the next morning.  Since 98% of our guests are flying in from Out of Town, everyone is invited to all the events.

Budget for everything except honeymoon is around $12,000. There are some things we’re saving big on (no engagement ring, heirloom wedding band for me, invites and photography done by friends, wedding at my mom’s house) and some we splurged on (catering, clothes), but it’s definitely cheaper than average for my region of the country.

@wstonesifer707: I was only suggesting that because there is a big difference between $25k and say $100k.  The beauty of a poll is that it’s anonymous and I know some of the brides with larger budgets often feel like they can’t divulge that information without getting negative feedback.  I know I feel that way on WB sometimes.

The reason I said the economy didn’t affect our spending habits is because I want the best deal regardless of the state of the economy.  Just because I have extra money in my pocket doesn’t mean I want to spend it. We chose to have our wedding on a Sunday because most vendors give discounts for off-peak days.  In fact, we saved $15,000 on our hotel’s food/beverage minimum by having our wedding Sunday night versus Saturday.  $15k!!!
