    Hi TennisSMLS– it would be really helpful/ more scientific/ more consistent if you defined what should and shouldn’t be included in the budget for the purposes this poll.

    Are engagement rings/ wedding rings included?

    Other wedding jewelery that might be re-worn?

    Honeymoon?

    Rehearsal Dinner?

    Day-after brunch?

    What if people are covering expenses for their bridesmaids and groomsmen or providing a baby-sitter for out-of-town guests?

    Cost of wedding coordinator?

    Hotel rooms for the bride and groom?

    Is it just the bare bones– marriage license fee+ ceremony space fee + officiant fee + reception space rental fee + reception food and drink + limo or other transportation+ DJ or band + photographer + flowers + cake?

    I watch that show to and Fiance and I can’t believe what some people spend… but they sure do look pretty!

    I’ve been including everything that’s wedding-related into our overall budget…

    * rings * Honeymoon * attendant gifts * etc…

    Just helps me keep my funds in check. =)

    I am quite proud of my little budget!  I feel like keeping to a tight budget has forced me to be creative and to channel all resources available into a beautiful affair.  We have a small guest list (80) and are having the ceremony in the local park just for a donation to the garden society.  The reception site has reasonable catering costs.  We did splurge a bit on photography, but we were able to hire a fantastic photographer early in her career, so the expense was within reason.  We are still working on securing all of our vendors, but I feel certain we will be on budget!

    @ Pixieduster: Consider yourself lucky that you can have a small guest list! It’s surely a privilege.

    I’m so jealous of anyone who can keep it small and intimate! With both of our immediate families (aunts, uncles, first cousins, grandparents)….that puts us at 70 already. =(

    Then friends, family friends, etc….it adds up quickly.
