dogmom2014 :  mine is 37 miles but almost all expressway so it takes me anywhere between 35 minutes and an hour each way depending on if I hit rush hour traffic. I have been making this commune for over ten years though so I’m very used to it. Hubby’s commute is 15 miles and about 20 minutes each way. We live in Michigan so the only time I hate it is when the weather is bad.

As far as wear and tear on our cars, they are both leases (I have to buy the max amount of extra miles on mine) so haven’t really had any issues there because I turn it in before I hit 60,000 miles.

Ugh.  One of the things I really hated about SoCal.

I remember even a couple of decades ago in the OC sitting on the freeway, *looking* at my destination and realizing it was still about 20 minutes away.

Oh, I *love* the train.  Well, I can say that because I don’t have to do it every day.

I have always wished we had that option.  I grew up in a big city where public transportation is plentiful.  As a child, it made me feel so free and independent.

dogmom2014 :  I’m in a city and my commute is usually about an hour each way.  Where I live, that is a good commute as I know people who do 6 hours roundtrip each day.  That being said, having a long commute can definitely take a toll on one’s mental health, and the definition of “long commute” varies person to person.

I used to commute 45 minutes each way (sometimes if there was an accident on the highway it would take an hour and a half). It wasn’t too bad. I racked up a lot of mileage on my car but it was a beater so I didn’t care too much.  My commute was 60km each way.

Mine is about 10 minutes, I would consider up to 30 min though!

A little over an hour if its rush hour, probably about 40 minutes with no traffic. Ive been doing the drive close to 10 years now, i think at this point it has just become an automatic thing that i dont even realize how far im driving on a daily basis.

My husband lives 5 minutes down the road from his job, and thinks im bat sh*t crazy for doing the long drive to work for this long.

Well I commute by plane to my job— it’s about an hour and a half flight plus an hour to the airport on one side and fifteen minutes on the other. Then it’s an hour drive from where I stay for the three to four days I’m there. I’m not a fan but the alternative is never seeing my spouse, or living in a rural location I don’t like. I hate the drive most of all— I wish there was public transit here!

Now the commute is 15 minutes but before we bought our new house it was about 30-35 minutes. 🙂
