LittleButtons :  I decorate with my mom while drinking wine. We listen to a local radio station that a childhood friend is a radio DJ on. It’s fun.

We also do the Christmas Pickle. My dad always put the pickle ornament on while we were sleeping and in the morning whoever ound the pickle first was the first to open their gifts.

We always put the tree up on Thanksgiving evening! And Christmas morning we have corn waffles (old family recipe). My fiance and I don’t really have any big traditions other than a big breakfast, so I’m looking forward to hearing what others do!

I make enchiladas for Christmas Eve because usually all the food is being prepped for Christmas dinner and we didn’t have anything to eat lol. I play Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving. New pajamas Christmas night.

Christmas Eve is the big day for us, since we are Italian and have all the fixings. I just can’t get enough of the food. I eat and eat and eat….I don’t even care! I’ll worry about it all on Jan 1.

When I was a kid my grandparents would stay the night and watch us open gifts on x mas and we’d have a big dinner. I miss that a lot….

Fi’s grandma makes Christmas breakfast. Every year fi and I open each other’s gifts, then we get ready and head over to her place for quiche, drunken grapefruit and a very alcoholic fruit punch. You have your food and get a little buzz going, then we do a white elephant exchange and split up to go cook. It takes the pressure off everyone to have to make it to yet another Christmas dinner, and we appreciate that.

We make 2 ornaments every year at clay cafe (a local spot where you can paint ornaments and they glaze them for you after).

My mom always gets everyone Christmas pjs for Christmas Eve.

Since we had our son we have been doing a lot of new traditions for him. He’s 2.5 and this year we have a Christmas Eve crate that I’m making. It will have his Christmas pjs, a book to read before bed, a new stuffed animal, and treats for Christmas Eve.

We have been going to my moms for Christmas Eve every year. We all stay the night and watch movies before bed while my mom frantically wraps last minute presents. There’s usually some alcohol and taco dip involved. Since my husband and I are from divorced families, we have Christmas at my moms, then my nans, then his moms, then his dads, then my dads on Boxing Day. It’s literally like the movie 4 Christmases

We put our tree up, I put on Christmas music and reindeer antlers and my other half gives me the face, I wander about singing Christmas songs and he makes the face.

then the week before Christmas we watch Christmas movies (die hard, home alone)

Darling Husband gets the tree out from storage while I tidy the room. Then I decorate, he says ‘that looks nice’ every time I ask for an opinion. I’m stupidly happy, he is amused by how happy it makes me. We snuggle up on the sofa together and watch old Christmas holiday comedy sketches.

The weekend after, I visit my parents, my dad gets the tree out of storage, my mum and I tidy the room. Dad is allocated lighting and tinsel, mum and I put up the rest of the ornaments. We play Christmas music ridiculously loud while doing so. The cat steals a bauble to chase around. Then mum and I snuggle up on the sofa and watch old Christmas movies.

Other christmas traditions involve driving in circles to see all the family members that we can.

I’m driving up to my parent’s house without Darling Husband in a couple weeks to spend a weekend baking Christmas cookies with my mom.  I’m really excited to have some Mother-Daughter time, just the two of us.

Other than that, Christmas just seems like any other holiday.  My grandparents go to my parents house, and we eat a meal on Christmas day.  We are with DH’s family Christmas Eve for a meal.  I do enjoy christmas music, movies, and the trees though I guess.

Darling Husband and I do our own 25 Days of Christmas movie marathon every year.

We also do an Adam Sandlers 8 Days of Hanukkah marathon too where we watch a different Adam Sandler movie every night of Hanukkah. We aren’t jewish but we like to be all inclusive and also we just really like Adam Sandler.
