Future Mother-In-Law offered to pay for our wedding cake. I know wedding cakes are hella expensive and I am not really into cake. We are doing a luncheon reception with some brunch on the menu. A summer wedding.
I enjoy seeing the cute alternative dessert ideas on Pinterest and I like the idea of not doing a boring wedding cake.
What dessert do you LOVE to eat at a wedding … Cake, cookies, cupcakes, ice cream, other?
What is the BEST wedding desert you ever had at a wedding?

I’ll be honest, I love cupcakes because they always look so cute but I HATE eating them in public. I always end up using a fork and wasting half of the cake. Plus you have people who really dislike frosting and just scrape it off. My reasoning might seem dumb, but I only like eating cupcakes when I’m not worrying about spilling something all over myself. Cake is much easier to handle and typically doesnt have as much icing. I think cookies are a good option. We had cheesecakes at ours and not a single slice was left out of 10 cheesecakes. That was in addition to people eating the wedding cake too.

All of it? A stacked doughnut cake would be different.

I love cake. And sometimes it can be pretty reasonable, if you go with a simple design and/or a small tiered cake and sheet cake for the rest.
ETA: For a brunch/lunch wedding, I’d love some doughnuts.
And I also love cookies and cheesecake and pie and chocolate fountains or strawberries and ice cream.

If you are having a casule lunch wedding I love both of the below photo’s, both easy to do and inexpensive but it depends on how fancy your hall is. Donuts and rice crispy cake

One of the most memorable desserts were butter tarts. They were huge and super delicious!

I love cupcakes. I feel like wedding cakes are usually stale. It might be interesting if you did a poll for this thread.

I personally really enjoy the cake. Or cheesecake. Both are so delicious!

I have been wondering the same thing because I’m kinda EH about cake myself too. If I were to be totally selfish, I would LOVE fruit tarte or cheesecake at a wedding.

I have seen a homemade cheesecake bar, instead of tradtional wedding cake. The bride had about 6 differnt cheesecakes all on old antique cake stands It was really pretty.

Cheesecake or cookies would be amazing.
I also love ice cream and would love to have some at a wedding!

Definitely the wedding cake since I love any kind of cake. Best wedding cake I had was at my cousin’s which was banana cake with Bavaran cream.

I vote for cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and glazed doughnuts. And fresh fruit, for a chaser. LOL!
