Chain or local place, what is your favorite restaurant and why? What’s good there?
mine is Hank’s Oyster Bar in Old Town Alexandria. They use raw bar grade oysters for frying, and when you’re seated, you get a bowl of goldfish crackers. When you get the check, it comes with a big chunk of chocolate carved from a slab and a little knife. They have heavenly Mac and cheese and roasted cauliflower too…. Mmmm…

@MrsLongcoatPeacoat: I have to eat gluten free and they’re amazing for that. Chicken lettuce wraps and Mongolian beef are my favorites.

Waterfront Depot in Florence, Oregon. Amazing food and reasonable prices. What more could a girl want? Best food I have ever eaten in restaurant.

I have 2 favorites… my first is Spring Rolls, it started in Toronto, but now we have them all over. They have award winning spring rolls (hence their name) and I just love their Veggie Chow Mein. My mom loves them too, if we have a mother/daughter date its always there. Each restaurant has great servers, a comfortable atmosphere, you never leave hungry and the price is very reasonable.
I also like Earls, its a Canadian semi-chain I guess. I can’t remember where they started but they’re slowly popping up. Its got a loungish type of feel and the food is great! My favorite is their Cajun Chicken Ceasar Salad. The thing I don’t like about them is that all of the waitresses are super skinny and look like they’re going to a club. The food’s great so I’ll keep going :). Ooh, and Milestone’s is always great!

My favorites are three local resturants (Thai, TexMex, and burgers). I guess when we eat out we end up eating at chains more, but like finding the local places better.

I don’t like chains but if I had to pick I would say Chipotle because their burrito bowl is pretty nice.
My fav restaurant at the moment is Grand Electric in Toronto. Delicious mexican with amazing cocktails and banging tunes.

My favorite chain is California Pizza Kitchen. I love everything they serve there. My favorite local place is a restaurant called From the Boot. Their pastas are to die for!

We have so many amazing local restaurants all within walking distance, no chains though! I honestly can’t remember the last time I ate at a chain restaurant, andcertainly don’t have a favorite. My favorite any night of the week is a french bistro on the lake. I love sitting at the bar, with a glass of rosé, watching boats! We have great Thai, pizza, Indonesian, Costa Rican, Japanese, and cool bars with tasty food menus less than a half-mile away!

Its a local place from my hometown, windsor ontario called cheese wheelz. the have hands down the best pizza ever. I first got addicted in undergrad when they were in a corner of a gas station convenience store, now they have like 6 full service restaurants. Theyll be on an episode of dragons den this fall too. I live in ireland now (irish pizza is not the best… to put it lightly…) and i always binge on cheese wheeelz when im home! If your in the area (and by area i mean 4 hour radius…) its definately worth it to check them out!

There’s a little hole in the ball bar and grill in rural SW MN called Bergen Bar and Grill. The “town” consists only of this restaurant, a meat locker and maybe three houses. Sometimes there will be a two hour wait (I think it only seats 60 people) but they’ll let you hang out on the patio with a drink until your table opens. You can’t make reservations either. So it’s kind of fun to get there first to get your name on the list. The steaks are AMAZING! The owner gets the meat from three different local lockers and I have yet to have a bad steak. The sides are also amazing and homemade, the onion rings..YUM! You can get a 12oz rib eye with two sides for about $20 which is a steal! It’s just a really nice down home place where you’re always greeted with a smile and there will always be somebody there you know.
