I’ve always loved Victorian homes. So beautiful

I’m going to say colonial, victorian or american. I love older homes, but have never lived in one (like real old homes- 50-100 years old). I live on the east coast and most everything is colonial here.

Craftsman Bungalows for sure. I love them. There’s a gorgeous one near our house that’s for rent and my Fiance and I always call it “my house”. I wish!

Love craftsman style homes but you can’t really find them in NJ. We’re buying a 1940s colonial. I like the look of capes but the layout usually drives me crazy.

I love Victorian style homes – my future home will have have an amazing wrap around porch. For now, i’m stuck in a tiny apartment in the city 🙁

@Neetch: I always find it funny when people think 50-100 years is old for a house. At university my halls were 1000 years old and generally anything under about 50 years old is viewed as modern.
I like real Victorian and Edwardian townhouses, but my dream would be a Georgian house in the countryside.

I voted before looking at your pics. I voted for Craftsman bungalow, but I love the Prairie house shown (except for the garage doors on the front). I also LOVE that Tudor Revival home – it’s so cute. I like houses that look comfy and cozy. I can’t imagine actually living in an Art Deco home (it seems like you would have to have really specific, and not necessarily comfortable, furniture and decor!) but I love to look at them. I’m also surprised Art Deco made the top ten list as I’ve never known anyone who lived in one and rarely see them in my part of the country.

@Eglantine: I was surprised by that as well! I don’t know if I have ever seen an Art Deco style home in person.
my favorite would most likely be the Southern Style Cape Cod– it has the CC style with a nice porch. I love a good porch! I also love cabin style Homez ( which didn’t make the list at all). Maybe not a full on wood cabin, but the cozy feel an the wood/stone element.

I love Craftsman Bunglows! Maybe because I live in Chicago and have mad respect for Frand Lloyd Wright and those types of homes he built around here 🙂

The “Victorian” house you posted looks like it was built in the 1990s.
This is one that I think looks more authentic:
One of the things I love about Victorian houses is that they have more than one story, and that they have lots of rooms. I will never get into the idea of “open concept”. It’s too flowy and big for me…

I generally don’t like anything built after 1940. The post WWII era brought us junk.
Still, 1960’s ranchese are better quality than 2010 ranches.

I love Spanish eclectic. Bring on the stucco!!

@AmyFarrahFowler: That’s why I chose Victorian too! Love the wraparound porches.

Yes! I’m with you ladies who love Victorian style homes because of their porches- That’s why I like them best. There are few things I love more than sitting outside on a porch with a hot cup of coffee on a cool fall morning. And my Darling Husband loves sitting on porches in thunderstorms.
