I think what makes those posts successful is the fact that they’re genuine.  Anyone can write about their plans, the details of their wedding, etc.  What makes a wedding post interesting is when it shows that this bride is human or shows how she is unique from other brides out there.  So my advice would be, at the risk of sounding like a total tool, just keep it real 🙂  Good luck!

Personally, I love DIY posts, including the fails! I love to learn and I love to get my hands dirty, so finding a blog that’s a great source of inspiration and full of tips is like heaven to me! I get bored if something doesn’t have enough photos, is full of boring descriptions but no details, or just plain old doesn’t have a point.

I love anything with pictures, DIY, and stuff that explains teh decision making process (e.g we considered these options for the venue, but went with this one because…)

Well I think THIS is a pretty interesting post. 🙂

Usually, I like something that’s new and fresh, because you have be pretty creative to think of something that doesn’t get discussed frequently on the forums. Of course, that being said, I often go through the achieves to read old threads about first dance songs, wedding dresses, etc

I agree with Bakerella – Photos are a huge thing for catching my attention. I like reading something with humor like “if one more person says…” or “you know your waiting when…”. Otherwise I read a variety. I like the budget ones, because real people have better (cheaper) ideas than magazines. Beyond that I usually just read what relates to my planning stage or is of particular interest to me. For example, I have read every single post about mantilla veils, because i really love them. lol

I like it when people post about the emotional development of the relationship as engagement progresses.  Things like Miss Earrings’ post about forming new family rituals or, heck, most of Miss Seashell’s updates would be good examples.
