@Kari 2012:  That is so weird of your Future Mother-In-Law. Do you have any idea why?? Your name is pretty just the way it is…

Mine is obviously Maggie, full name Margaret & Anne is middle name. Only time I got called that is by my parents when they were mad…”Margaret Anne Lastname”: stop that right now!!”

@MaggieF:  I think she was just dropping the “a” off but I kept telling her my nickname was Kari. Another reason that is possible is she never had a daughter so I think she wants to act as if I was hers by giving me the nickname she believes should go with that name.

I have a Scottish name – Sheona – it’s pronounced like “Fiona” but with a “sh”. My friends call me Shae for short πŸ™‚

Mine is Laura. Honestly, I am not a huge fan of my name because it is such a popular name amongst girls my age. Also, you can’t shorten it to make a cute nickname!

Meridith here.  Not a very popular name – certainly not when I was little and wanted a name that ended in an “ee” sound like all my friends: Amy, Cindy, Sheri, Lori, etc.

My daughter’s name is Annelise.

Neha. Pronounced Nay-ha. It means love and rain. I don’t like my name, I think it’s common and boring.

Siobhan (Pronounced Shi-von). Irish and horrifically mis-spelt and mis-pronounced. Hence the user name. I was called Sibiohan by my boss for 2 years at my last job.
