I usually go for the coffee maker, if there is one.

We loved getting gift cards for our registry.  My go to registry gift for someone else is usually a glass cake dome.  I don’t know why I love them so much!

I usually go for wine or martini glasses (for showers), I give cash or giftcards for the actual wedding.

I just pick a dollar amount ($150 for friends, more for bffs/close relatives) and buy stuff that adds up to that amount.

@imanw:  yes, a lot of people who want money either cause they need it or because they have everything they need/can fit set up a small registry to content people who will not give money, and hope the rest will “get it”

Well, after having two of our own showers… and not receiving hardly any of these – I will always buy the towels!!!  I understand, they arent a “fun” gift… but they are necessary!!! and appreciated haha…

I give cookbooks! I they aren’t registered for cookbooks, then I tend to go with kitchen utensils (spoons, spatuals, knives, etc.). No idea why…

I go for the glassware. For one couple, they had about 5 different sets of glassware (martini, wine, margarita etc) and a shaker…we bought the whole lot! They said they were wondering who their boozey friends were lol

It depends…if I’m getting an actual gift I like to go with something that packages easily or that I would enjoy having.  One of the last gifts I bought were some awesome cookbooks because they were on the registry and I am personally a cookbook fiend.  I’ve boughten sets of wine glasses before, etc.  Another time I couldn’t attend and just picked something nice off the registry and had it sent directly to them.  Easy!

We usually go for 1) something in a giant box or 2) something with longevity. It’s always fun to see the ginormous box show up on your doorstep because really, how many times does that happen? So we will pick whatever we think will yield a giant box, like the pots & pans set or an appliance of some sort. Otherwise, we will pick something that they will likely keep for years, such as picture frames or vases. We usually avoid anything that will likely get tossed out at some point (e.g. their personal, daily use towels) or easily breakable (e.g. wine glasses).
