I am a 6.25 and my stone is a 8mm OEC moissy which does face up a but larger than other cuts.
I choose my stone size based on the setting, which I fell in love with, and honestly, sometimes I feel like the stone is too big. I know this is way less common than “shrinkage”, but I wanted to chime in and share a different experience than most on the bee. I have even looked at other antique reproduction settings with smaller stones, but I don’t love any of them. So for now, sometimes my ring just feels big. I have also had trouble finding a band that goes well with it, anything not curved makes it feel even more bulky.
Hope this info helps, here are a couple pics!

The moissanite is from ebay and the setting is from American Set, also from ebay.

i have a 1.65 ct pear solitaire with a pretty solid sz 7 (sometimes when its really cold here in MN in the winter, my fingers contract down to a sz 6.45) and i am pretty happy with the size and proportion for the most part. i do have pretty long fingers though, so at times i find myself wishing i had a stone closer to 2 ct

My finger size is 7.5-8. I have a 2.5ct fb moissanite. I think it suits my big and long finger nicely:

^^Sorry! That’s mine. I’m new and have no clue what I’m doing. I couldn’t figure out how to edit that to add text. Anyway, mine isn’t a solitaire but I was going to say that halos definitely help make your diamond appear larger. Mine is 1.58ct center and 1ct in the setting. After being married 12yrs I finally got what I wanted 🙂 my original was about 1/3 ct.
