Does anyone wish they’d gone bigger?
We picked out a 2.04ct diamond. We aren’t going to be upgrading in the future. I keep seeing stories about ring shrinkage. I don’t see that happening with a 2ct stone. (I wear a size 5 if that helps). I really like the 2ct and don’t want to go to big. I guess since we’re finalizing everything I’m just second guessing my choice. Any advice?

Mine is a 1.5ct, and I’m still happy with it a few years later.

I’m a size 4.5 and have a 2ct diamond. To me it’s the perfect size and will never need to be upgraded. We have small fingers, it will look big without being obscene. I think 3+ starts to look fake unless you’re an obvious millionaire.

I didn’t really want my ring to signal wealth, so I asked that he stay under 1.5ct.
It looks smaller next to some gorgeous diamonds I’ve seen, but it also tipped us off to how wealthy they were, which I wouldn’t want in reverse.

I never thought about diamond size before I got engaged. Mine is 0.70 carats and my finger is size 4. I’m very happy with both the quality, size and setting of my diamond.

Honestly, there is a part of me that would love to rock a huge 3 ct diamond but the reality is that a stone that size wouldn’t fit my lifestyle or even my personality. When we started looking we had an idea of 1.5 to 2 ct center stone. Everything we saw in that range was either way over budget or really sacrificed all the other C’s. We settled on a 1.3 ct center stone and it really is me. Every once in a while i experience shrinkage, but most of the time i think its just perfect.

My diamond is 2.8ct and it looks so small to me. I wear a 7 though. I think my ideal size is more like 8ct, lol. But I know this is in my head, in reality it is not small.

2-2.5 ct. I recently upgraded from a 1 ct to a 1.7 ct and will hopefully upgrade to my sweet spot in a few years.

I wanted 0.5-.75ct which is exactly what I got. I’m still happy with this size.

excitedplanning : I wanted a 1 ct but got 1.5. I still, after 11 years, feel like it’s too big lol.

My ring has a 1.01 ct cushion, which faces up smaller than a round, but it has a halo around it. I think it’s the perfect size. My Fiance was gifted a 2 ct marquise from his great aunt and he was going to give it to me, but I felt it was too big for every day wear. I wear a size 5.75 but could easily fit into a 5.5.
Edit – yes there are days where my diamond does look smaller. Since I cannot wear my ring to work, I put it on as soon as I get home and it looks bigger. Then after a couple of hours it looks normal again and if I wear it several days in a row then it does appear to shrink. But all I have to do is not wear it and then it appears big again.

my 1.5ct appeared very substantial on my 6.75 finger to me throughout our engagement. it seems smaller when i am wearing my diamond wedding band with it. when i start feeling shrinkage i take off the wedding band for a minute and am like “oh, yea, still huge. phew!” i am considering getting a plain metal band so the sparkles aren’t competing. 🙂

My center stone is 1 ct. and the rest of the diamonds in it are close to another ct. I have very skinny fingers, so it looks a lot bigger than it is. I havent experienced diamond shrinkage. I love my ring!

I have a 2.3 carat on a 5.25 finger and I think it is perfect for me. I wouldn’t want to go any bigger. I still love my ring and don’t feel any shrinkage.
