I love reading these posts.

My favorite pieces of jewlery are

1) An aquamarine ring, given to me by my mommy, that that I used to wear a lot!

2) My grandma’s engagement ring from 1952m which i am wearing today, so here’s a pic. IDK if you can see it, but it has her initials and my grandpa’s too, but his faded right around the time he passed away..strange. Anyway I love it because I miss her dearly and I only get to see her once a year…if at all.

My parents bought me pearls when I graduated from college, because every professional woman needs a string of pearls.  I love wearing them, and I love that they were so proud of my accomplishments.

my Paternal Grandmother’s Silver Star of David Ring that my Dad made for her when he was in college. I’ve worn it basically every day since I got it from my Dad at her Funeral. I’m thinking about making that my Something Old.

Probably this beautiful silver and turquoise bracelet that used to be my mom’s.  It’s huge and chunky and so gorgeous.  I really want to wear it for my wedding, but in the craziness of moving and a new job this summer, I haven’t been able to find it for a couple months :/  SOOOO hoping it’s just misplaced in the shuffle and turns up!!!  One of those things where I never realized how important it is to me until I misplaced it.  :/

I also have a smal jade carved pendant that my now-fiance brought back for me from New Zealand from his study abroad there – in 2001!  It took him a full year to give it to me after he got home, because he thought giving jewelry to a girl was cheesy (silly boy).  11 years later, I still have it, which is pretty amazing as I do tend to lose things… see above…

My grandmother’s engagement ring! She passed away in August and I miss her every single day. She had such an impact on my life and taught me so much about love, family and being a wife. She and my grandpa were married for 62 years before she passed away. They would always tell me about the day they got married – grandpa had only $5 in his pocket and the minister wouldn’t accept it ๐Ÿ™‚ Whenever they spoke about their wedding day, you could just see the joy in their eyes like it happened yesterday! I am forever grateful to them for showing me the meaning of true love.

Aside from my e-ring/wedding band, definitely my RHR which I always wear, which was my grandmothers that I inherited when she died.  The style is funky but I love it and I can still picture it on her hand.

A necklace my grandma bought me.  It has my birthstone in it — a real green emerald.  I never wear it because it’s not my taste, but I will break it out for special occasions.

My mom gave me a diamond ring (when I was 18) that she bought herself when she turned 18 after a bad breakup (kind of an independence ring). I also love this opal necklace/earring set that my grandma gave me on my 16th birthday. Her mom gave it to her when she turned 16 so it’s really special as well (:

ANy peice of jewelery that I have been given as a gift is something I hold dear to my heart. With that being said The strand of pearls my Fiance (at the time he was still just my boy friend) gave me for our 4th anniversary- it has to be my favorite.  I had always told him how much I wanted a pearl necklace (he told me he would buy it for me for our wedding one day), but he just came home with it for our anniversary instead.

Without a doubt, it would be the ring I got when my grandfather (Poppy) passed away.  Before I met my husband, Poppy was the most important person in my life and he’s still my role model.  The ring is a family ring (with the birthstones of my parents and all of my grandparents) and I’ve worn it every single day since I got it.  Even though I ordered the ring myself after Poppy died, I bought it out of money that he left me in his will and I’ve always considered it to be a gift from him. I know that his spirit was with me when I decided to get a ring because the day I ordered it, the sales associate who served me turned out to be the daughter of Poppy’s first cousin and I had never met this woman before a day in my life!  We only figured out our relation when she asked me what my name was (because I had paid for the ring in full so she needed my name) and she mentioned that my surname was actually her maiden name and we got talking about where our families were from.  I always took that as a clear and definite sign that Poppy was indeed with me that day, guiding me, and that he wanted to let me know it.  That’s why the ring means so much to me and why I think it really is from him!

Right now, definitely my engagement ring because I associate it with not only the beautiful, memorable proposal but everything we have been through together, our everlasting love and the possibilities of our future. I know once I have my wedding ring, it will be almost as important.
