sunworshipbride :  Maybe it’s just me, but I kind of think the “last supper” meal idea would be fun for a rehearsal dinner!

We did a mother-daughter dance to the “Golden Girls” theme song. Got a great reaction and it was a lot of fun!

A lot of things are “our own” and unique because we’re having a Hindu-Jewish fusion wedding combining different elements of our culture and traditions. But the key ones would be:

1. Seeing each other before the ceremony **

2. No wedding party

3. Nobody “giving me away” – we’ll be walking down together, hand in hand (this is pretty scandalous in my culture and nobody has ever done something like this – that I know of anyway)

4. A rehearsal/Mehendi dinner which a strange fusion of our pre-wedding rituals

**ETA: I know a lot of couples do this, but in my culture this is a HUGE deal.

ginniesueneverblue :  That’s actually amazing! My fiance proposed with our favourite card game, so I kind of want to steal your idea now haha 🙂

We will be staying together the night before and morning of the wedding – want to make the most of the bridal suite! We shall have breakfast together and then go off to get ready. My Mother is appalled. I think it’s lovely!

I’m not having anything rustic – that seems to be quite unique these days. I am saving up various drinks bottles from the last couple of years and will fill them flowers for extra decorations – this is a good excuse to buy quirky gin so I can get the nice bottles. The dog is coming and I am crocheting flowers for her harness & lead so she looks the part. I don’t know – nothing mental but everything single thing will be stuff that is in some way ‘us’.

I want a black flower bouquet but I am not sure that will actually happen.

I do love all the things that are a little bit different – I am liking reading about everyones ideas even if they later find them replicated on Pinterest!

sunworshipbride :  We’re doing breakfast for supper. I have tons of random life threatening allergies (chicken, turkey, tomatoes, the list goes on), so that naturally limited the traditional wedding dinner options. We thought it would be fun because we go to IHOP for supper all the time and it’s our favourite place to eat!

We get married in 2 days time. I have an origami paper flower boquet, the imidiate family have origami flower buttonholes created by my Dad. We habe a display of around 1000 papercranes that we have folded and strung up and uaing as a bavk drop. I have tarten garter. Thats about as unique as we get at the minute.

I can’t wait to see how it all looks on Friday.

We’re hoping to do zero flowers except my bouquet – everything else will be greenery! Also having a bunch of little ones in the ceremony (my neice, my mentors two children, one of my best friend’s grandchildren) and having a friend do a cool accoustic-motown thing for dancing at the reception! So nothing too crazy, but a little quirky!

I plan to do a few things that are a little different.

♥ My grandmother as my flower girl

♥ Signature drinks named after my cats

♥ I really want a bouncy house, if i can find the right venue.

We will spend the night before the wedding together and be together right up until after breakfast where his need for tradition will kick in and he won’t want to see me in the dress before the ceremony

I’m walking down the aisle to Darth Vader’s Imperial March, because if all eyes have to be on me I want people to have a giggle, I’m not great with attention being on me so I can focus on people finding it funny rather than being uncomfortable.

Im not being given away I’m walking by myself just with my bridesmaids behind me

My bouquet is going to be made out of vintage brooches

My dress will be pale blue, with a cape rather than a veil

Along side our wedding cake we will be having a cheese “cake”

I don’t know how original these idea are but they aren’t really traditional which is why I like them.

Okaaaay… no bridal party, spending night and morning together to get ready, having a friend drive both of us to the registry office, not inviting most of my family, not having any fancy food (pizza and antipasti), asking everybody to bring board games for after dinner, possibly heading to a metal bar after the main event, getting a normal day suit for the wedding, no speeches, nobody walking me down any aisle, having my best mate do a ceremony (not so unusual in the USA but very unusual here), me writing the whole ceremony which features references to Doctor Who and The Simpsons…
