I would have loved to have had children when I was younger. I met my partner at 28 ( she is 38) but we wanted to wait until we had some time alone together before we started TTC. At 33 we started trying, after 6 months of IUI with Clomid, Metformin and HCG injections and donor sperm we had 2 early miscarriages and no baby to show for it. We took a break and during that time I slipped a disk in my back and my fibromyalgia flared up very badly. Because I’m still taking narcotics for my pain we cannot TTC at this point. I’m hoping in the next 2 years we can start again. My personal limit is the age of 40, that’s just my comfort level and my partners. However, my Mom had my sister at 35, me at 36 and my younger sister at 42 without any assistance. Because I have endometriosis and PCOS I may never be able to concieve but I don’t think it’s selfish to try at my age – I’m 35.

this question annoys me. it’s totally irrelevent and ageist. some people don’t find the love of their life before 40. some people can’t offer a stable home until much later in life. i think that if you are healthy and can offer a stable happy loving home that trumps any of this age business.

My sister had my niece at 36 and my nephew at 40. I am getting married at 36 and have PCOS so may have a hard time conceiving. I took extra precautions not to get pregnant unwed and my fiance at age 30 cheated on me. I’m FINALLY with Mr Right and we both want children so bad. It hurts to know some people will look down on us if we CAN have a baby which we are financially VERY secure to provide for, both healthy and have a nice home already as well as supportive and loving families…. It’s funny… I bet people voting that my age is too old are much younger. I don’t feel as old as 36 SOUNDED in my 20s:)
