Actually when I bought my dress, the bridal store gave as a gift a blue swarovski crystal heart on an ivory ribbon to either sew into the dress, or on a bouquet or something.
I thought that was pretty darn cool of them. And I do plan on using it.
I bought the Mindy Weiss shoe appliques that Kelly talked about in one of the first responses. Here is a pic of how they came out. I loved them because only some people knew about it, but it was funky and fun! Later, my something blue became an amazing aquamarine necklace that my husband got me for a wedding present. He put it on me before the reception for a new look!
I wore light blue panties 🙂 Not the most creative “something blue”, but it worked out just fine!
My dress has buttons down the back and one of them will be blue. It will actually be a blue “evil eye” button that my dress designer’s Mom is bringing me from Turkey. The evil eye is said to ward off bad sprits and bring good luck in their place.
My petticoat — we died it blue! Then I also purchased the “something blue” shoes! and my something old just happens to be blue too (blue is one of our wedding colors lol)
My sister who is my Maid/Matron of Honor will be getting me a hankie with blue embroidery.
my toes.. i haven’t decided it it’s all blue, or just a blue strip like a french pedicure.. my fam’s going to think i’m nuts either way.
I had a garter that had a bit of blue in it. I almost did blue rhinestones as well on the bottom of my shoes but decided against it since I didn’t want to feel I was dancing on rocks.
My sister got me my new initials and wedding date embroidered with blue thread on a white grosgrain ribbon from jcrew:
