Alberta – oil, snow, mountains

Hometown – snow, hockey, vandalized ‘Welcome’ signs…

To @springbride23:  I actually LIKE Rochester… and the surrounding area of West NY State.

BUT ya you guys have a serious crime stat… I truly think it is reflective of the unemployment / collapse of the businesses there and the fact that the city is at the edge of the USA.  So feeding one’s family and providing HEAT & shelter is a HUGE deal… and EXPENSIVE… so crime is the way that some people make a go of it

You aren’t alone in this problem, many of the US’s Northern Border Cities that have also been hit hard economically have the same issues.

Sad but true.

@LittleButtons:  rochester, NY. The Garbage Plate

The website explains it best: “A Garbage Plate is a combination of two selections of cheeseburgerhamburgerred hots, white hotsItalian sausagechicken tenderfish (haddock), fried hamgrilled cheese, oreggs; and two sides of either home friesFrench friesbaked beans, or macaroni salad. On top of that are the options of mustard and onions, and Nick’s proprietary hot sauce, a sauce with spices and slowly simmered ground beef. It’s served with Italian bread and butter on the side,[3] fresh from the bakery next door.[2] Health.com named the Garbage Plate the fattiest food in the state of New York.[4]

Hometown/state: Portland, CT

Portland was famous for its brownstone quarries and the brownstone from my town was used in many important landmarks in New England. In the 30s after a flood and hurricane the quarries were completely flooded and I guess they unable to drain it. No brownstone has been quarried since.

When I was in high school we used to cliff jump and swim in the quarries all the time (it wasn’t allowed because there was a lot of divers and junk in the water like cars and stuff). Right before I graduated high school they cleaned it up and turned it into a water park. It’s a pretty fun place!

Connecticut is well known for having a lot of rich people (only really true in certain areas), farmlands and being the birthplace of George W. Bush.

Current town/state: Gilbert, AZ

I don’t really know too much about Gilbert having just moved here, but it apparently is the 2nd safest city in America.

Arizona is of course well known for the Grand Canyon.

I live in Nashville. It’s known for country music. I specifically live in East Nashville, which is known for its hipsters and liberalism.

I’ve also lived in Newport Beach, California, and it’s known for wealth, blondes and boob jobs.

I’m not from here but I live in Columbia, SC. I’m not sure what it’s known for but from my personal observation it seems to be known for racism. FUN! Undecided Oh and it also seems to be known for having lots of churches, sometimes 4 or 5 in less than a mile.

@lolot:  I’m from Wyoming, too!  Beautiful pictures!

Wyoming is also home to the highest (by elevation) Division I university in the country.
