I’ll re-introduce “cash bars are okay”. Would you rather have shitty pizza and a glass of wine, or FREE prime rib and a $6 drink?

misstomorris :  I’d rather have something in between. It doesn’t need to be something expensive like prime rib, so no cash bar is needed with your budget. And it’s not free, it costs guests time and money to go to your wedding, and a gift.

Eta: I do know cash bar is popular in some areas, which is fine.

cherryberrypie :  I wish I could find something in between. 🙁 I have compulsively emailed every venue on the Eastern side of my state, and they all charge an arm, a leg, and your firstborn’s heart for every meal. And we definitely don’t have the capital for a “backyard” type wedding. I FINALLY found someone to lower to $79/meal if I took out the cash bar – gorgeous venue, awesome food, and great atmosphere. I’m very happy with our decision. I just hate that some girls get pressured into providing alcohol. If you can’t have ANY flowers, NO dress, and have to stay in a Motel 6, it’s not worth spending the money on an open bar – and that’s exactly what it would have been for us. 

ETA: YOU get one wedding. Those 50+, 100+, 200+ people may have MULTIPLE weddings to go to in one SEASON. If the ONLY thing they take from it is that they didn’t get a free beer, shame on them!

Love this post. Unpopular belief is:

i agree most new babies are ugly, and actually most people without make up are ugly and I secretly feel bad for girls that have a ton of make up on 

I think a lot of people are too caught up in themselves that they are blind to what’s really going on and too passive about about actually making a difference 

I hate everything about Wal-Mart 

people should have a permit to have children 

I hate social media 

I don’t think your animals are cute when they jump all over me 

I believe that women can do the same things as men however that does not mean that I am not a lady and don’t expect my doors opened, and chair pulled out, and the check paid for on a first date.

misstomorris :  I’ll be providing wine with the meal and champagne to toast, however our evening reception will be a cash bar. But I’m in the UK and I think that’s normal here, plus it gives people more choice.

I’ve only been to one wedding where booze was provided free, but the couple had hired the local town hall, which didn’t have provisions for a bar, and a relative of the groom owned a shop so had access to the local wholesalers to get it all cheaply for them. But it was just beer and wine so not much selection.

As someone who doesn’t live in the US, I hate the tipping system in the US. Like, just pay your employees proper wage and tell us exactly how much we gotta pay for our meals, instead of forcing us to do math after a few glasses of wine. Same for the whole displaying prices pre-tax thing. I just hate not knowing what the actual price of things are at first glance, it creates the illusion that things are cheaper than they actually are.

Also, strapless mermaid or fit & flare dresses are way overdone. It’s like the 21st century version of the puffy sleeve wedding dress in the 80s. Not to mention a lot of people wearing it don’t look that good in it / could’ve looked better in a different style.

I think cyclists should be banned from downtown – they never follow the road signs and are unpredictable. Truly a danger to both cars and pedestrians.
