I’m walking down the aisle to the beginning of the song “Dreams” by The Cranberries… and then the recessional song is going to be “Dont You (forget about me)” by Simple Minds. I can’t wait!!
As we are marrying in an 82 year old cinema, our friend is going to play “God Save the Queen” on the cinema organ and everyone will have to stand and sing, Royalist or not! (This was standard cinema going practice in NZ until the 60s).
We will also have a sign advising “Ladies, please remove hats” (again standard cinema going protocol of the era.
Then a theatre promo, turn off phones etc ad followed by the 20th Century Fox theme to kick off proceedings.
Fiance will enter to the theme from The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938).
Bridal party enter to Moon River from Breakfast At Tiffany’s
I will walk in to Tara’s Theme from Gone With the Wind.
As Time Goes By from Casablance will be our “Intermission” music while we sign the certificate.
Our recessional is I Can’t Give You Anything But Love from Bringing Up Baby.
Someone to give my love to by Johnny Paycheck. Definitely a country chic wedding!
I walked down to a snippet of The Piano Guys’ cover of “Home” – it was so perfect.
We started the song around the 1:52 mark, where it has this awesome pick up. I’m telling you, turning around the corner and facing everyone at that moment was amazing. It mellows out quickly after too, for a nice walk down the aisle. But I liked the slight drama at the entrance.
There are a few examples of it on youtube but my organist is awesome and he’s cutting it down so it’s not too long.
I want to walk down to the Moulin Rouge instrumental of Your Song. It will ultimately depend on the ceremony site (haven’t decided church or an outdoor space yet)
For the recessional I want to use Bolero, again from Moulin Rouge. It would start before the ceremony was done, and when the big rise in the music happens, thats when we would leave.
