    I think that would depend on the type of wedding right? mine was a Destination Wedding on a beach, so I went with chiffon.

    @NurseMandie: Silk describes what the material is made of and covers hundreds of different types of fabrics. My dress was power-woven silk dupion which is a world away from chiffon or slipper satin or tulle (all of which can also be made from silk).

    @SpecialSundae:  power-woven silk dupioni

    That there just turned me on. I love silk dupioni (and your dress was GORGEOUS).

    I agree with strawbs that it really depends on the location, weather, overall theme etc. My dress was heavy satin with a great deal of beading and crystals with an incredibly long train which might not suit say a Destination Wedding bride.

    You need to change the poll so that people can choose multiple options. My dress is Taffeta and Tulle.

    Heavy charmeus (which I guess is silk) and tulle overlay. I just checked out the fabric swatches

    @NurseMandie:  Ha ha, i actually did that. I wasn’t a fan of tulle skirts, despise taffeta with a passion, lace always reminds me of doillies, IMO chiffon is ment for Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses. I basically went out looking saying “I despise taffetta and lots of lace, and am not a fan of tulle skirts. I love ball gowns with a little bling, satin and charmuese but am open to anything that isn’t tulle or taffeta.”  I ultimately ended up getting an organza dress with beading throughout the bodic and skirt, but it’s not over done.

    I tried on many dresses that I thought were beautiful, but the one I got I just didn’t want to take off.
