Well I agree with you on some things but disagree a bit with you. I didn’t eat the food either but guests sure did. We had lots Of compliments on all the food, premium bar , the expensive centepieces and even such a little detail on having a menu on our table. Decor sets the ambiance and I believe it is important as it has huge impact. However my cake didn’t get decorated exactly the way I wanted but No one knew that and thought it was pretty regardless. I also agree no one notices the bridesmaids accessories so don’t get all stressed out if they don’t want to wear the shoes! However I will say that it is nice to look at my pics of the girls and to see them in matching shoes! If I was to do it again I would do everything the same EXCEPT upgrade our wine and stuck with the house wine!Spend money wisely to get the best bang for your buck!! People do aappreciate the little details but won’t miss them if they arent there!

I refuse to get stressed out about my–our–wedding. It’s supposed to be a day of celebration, and it’s supposed to be centered around a MARRIAGE. Thankfully, our friends and family are very normal, laid back people, and we don’t feel pressured to keep up with the Joneses, so to speak. We’ll have a nice ceremony and decorated reception, but we’re doing it our way. We won’t care about the tiny details at the end of the day, and neither will our families. We WILL care about the next decades we spend together. 🙂

Our wedding is in 127 days and I am so far very under budget and proud. I set a budget of $2000, and the majority of that was set aside for food. I our venue is $450 from 9am – 11pm. Upon inspection the next morning we will recieve $300 back. Other than that instead of $600 for my dress I changed plans and spent $100. I will add another $50-100 in crystals to it, but that is all. I did pay for my girls dresses, however we got a killer deal for $40 each at Burlington. Centerpieces will be diy, most of my table decor is coming from dollar tree, and we are looking at having 100 people in attendance.

i’m so glad to have read this, to be reminded. I’m 8 months away, and barely stressed, but good to remember.

Ladies, I am so grateful for this post. I am planning my wedding for April 21, only shy of 5 months. I am already stressed but after reading this, I can see that I just need to keep it simple and enjoy it. I am making my own centerpieces and favors to cut costs.
Thank you again 🙂

This is good to hear from a newlywed. Ive been all over the board on planning ours. First it started out doing everything at our house until we realized how expensive tent rentals and tables and chairs were. So I started looking for a venue and was looking at rental halls and thinking of all the decorating I would need to do and going way over budget. I came to realize that I’m out in the country and can pick from some gorgeous places. I paid a bit for our venue (about $1600) but its gorgeous needs little decorating and provides everything. FYI if you can find a place like that tons of stress goes away! Once I realized I don’t need the expensive decorations and that we’re a laid back couple and to keep it simple all my stress has come from a non-responsive party and all of a sudden having to come up with most of our budget money that had been promised to us.
