getting married in the obx – everyone will be traveling – half the people from nj but the rest from other states: cali, texas, ohio, florida, mass, conn, maryland, virginia, etc.

i never dreamed about my wedding, but i always knew i wanted to get married on the beach. in my head, it was always an island in the caribbean. when Fiance and i started talking about marriage, he was totally on board. when we got engaged last year, we decided that financially, an island in the caribbean might be hard for some of the people we REALLY want there. so we figured obx was easiest, a place that means a lot to both of us, and it’s a lot of fun there.

since we decided this, Future Mother-In-Law has told my Fiance that i need to change my mind because a Destination Wedding is ridiculous – especially to a place that isn’t even all-inclusive and that no one wants to go to. she’s also told his sister and my mother to talk me out of it.

i’m not budging. prior to booking, i checked with my closest friends and family and all of them said they would go (and were excited to.

should be noted that my Future Mother-In-Law doesn’t have the best relationship with her 3 kids. long story there. but luckily i love my Future Father-In-Law and his SO – she’s amazing!

@MissMeowMeow:  I just had my destination wedding in Cuba and had 67 guests attend! Everyone who came jumped at the chance to be there and we had no negative Nancy’s at all! We had a few family members that couldnt afford to come but that was fine since I didnt really want them there anyways!

@MissMeowMeow:  I have received the same response as you. I am getting married in prague and I live in New Zealand. My Fiances twin brother has made no attempt to come and given every reason not to be there except he has said its not a money issue! I am taking it sort of personally, his other brother who is not really in the financial position to come is actually coming.

So people have been so nasty and have said we are so selffish for doing a Destination Wedding. But yes it is about us and our day!
