Ours is covered in our renters insurance. I called and made sure to up the $ value covered in my insurance and scanned a copy of the appraisal and emailed it to myself incase I ever needed it and I wasnt home, lost it, it burned in a fire etc.

Jeweler’s Mutual. I’d highly recommend them. Just went to their website, picked out the coverage we wanted and bought the policy. All I had to do after that was scan and email them my appraisal. I’m not sure how to go through the actual appraisal process, though, my ring came with one.

It’s partially covered by renter’s insurance but also with USAA (DH was a military dependent so is “grandfathered” in before they opened it up to civilians, I’m not sure if civilians can do anything but banking with them even now)

He handled it all, but he got the ring appraised and sent the appraisal into both companies and kept copies of the appraisal as well as the response from each company. He also has the diamond certification document for further documentation of all the facts.

I just filled out my Jewelers Mutual application last night and sent them the appraisal today (electronic copy). It was a bit pricey but from what I hear it is very convenient and comprehensive if something actually happens to your ring.
