Grandma Pickenpaughs Oatmeal raisin cookies.  My family would flip if they didn’t get these in the mail every year.  My dad has to have my peanut butter ones and the original tollhouse chocolate chip (not the ones that are on the package now, the one that was on the package in the 70’s).

Chocolate chip cookies – the same that my mom used to make when we were kids.

I’ve been Jonesing for rum balls so I’m definitely making those.  I love Mexican Wedding Cookies and Butter Cookies and will probably make those too.  There is a molasses cookie my mom used to make when I was growing up.  I may make that one this year as well.

I just had a 9 hour cookie day with my family. I personally made three kinds and all of them were new for me this year. Heath toffy cookie, mint cholocate chip cookie and a reese pieces peanut butter cookie. All wonderful!!

The family tradition recipe (passed down from my great-grandma and who knows how long before) is a really plain cookie with a hint of nutmeg that makes it delicious, and a sugary frosting. Then we go all out on decorating them- chocolate chips, M&Ms, sugar, sprinkles, lots of stuff. Don’t know if I’ll get any this year though, since I won’t be going home until late Christmas Eve and my mom is a lot less ambitious about them when I’m not there 🙁

I started my Christmas baking a few weeks ago and the stuff I’ve made already is in the freezer until Christmas. So far I’ve made a pumpkin chocolate chip loaf and a huge batch of pecan sandies. Still to come: ginger spice cookies and cookie dough truffles.

I really want to make these: http://www.thedecoratedcookieblog.com/2008/12/im-melting-melting.html

I’ve also got cinnamon pinwheels, and those round cookies with the cutout filled with jam, if anyone knows what I’m talking about. Also plan on making a bunch of boring but delicious oldies: choc chip, pecan shortbread, decorated sugar cookies, peanut butter kisses (maybe peanut butter reindeer too).

Last but not least, I always make a lot of fudge, grasshopper squares, and I want to make these oreo cake balls that a friend brought to a baby shower once….simple, and amazing.
