I dont know what food specifically but I would opt for a buffet to keep the casual theme going

@rachels7683:  I think if it starts at 4 it would be nice to have some savouries like little pies, sausage rolls, cocktail sausages, crackers with dips and cheeses and some bowls/platters of fruit. You could then serve dinner after 6 if you wanted to. I’ve seen some people throw really nice buffet dinners at home. A friend of mine did a buffet with roast beef, roast chicken, potato bake, vegetables, pasta with cheese and bread rolls. There was something for everyone ๐Ÿ™‚

How about a BBQ, I’d love that at a casual backyard wedding. The smells of the charcoal and lots of salad and sides. Would probably be fairly easy to do as weel as the the meat could be cooked in advance and just throw it on the coals to get the smoke flavour and warmed through.

A buffet definitely seems to be an easy thing. That’s what I’m doing. ๐Ÿ™‚ Except my reception is indoors and there’s gonna be like 130 people. ๐Ÿ˜›

@rachels7683:  Hire someone to man the grill. It need not be a professional caterer. How about a neighbor who likes to cook out?  And maybe one other person to serve, refill food, clean up spills, keep beverages filled, etc…

I agree, that you and your guests should just enjoy the event!

Im doing a buffet, Italian beef (giant slow cooker) Baked beans (crockpot),Cucumber Salad, House Salad, chips and dip(mostly for the kids).  Its simple and easy.  I can start the italian beef the night before.  Baked beans a couple hours before on low. The rest can be done whenever.
