Hi ladies. I have no clue about all this wedding stuff and terminology. I ordered my dress in January, and I’m starting to think about my accessories. What style of veil would look best with my dress?
P.S. I have long dark brown hair. I’m planning to do a one-sided style with curls flowing to my right shoulder. I was thinking of putting an applique on the left side of my head.
Any help is appreciated. 🙂
Oh and my wedding is all outdoors under tons of walnut trees. Our feel is vintage/boho chic.
Here’s my dress…

I have a fishtail dress, and i’ve got a really long viel (the lenth of my train) I suppose it depends what you like though really? What styles do you like/have you tried?

Any veil would look beautiful but my opinion is that either fingertip lace trimmed veils or cathedral length veils look best with mermaids.

@VampireBride: I wasn’t considering a veil at first, I was just going to wear a flower crown. I’ve considered bird cage, but I am loving the look of a simple, single long veil. Thank you for your advice, I’m going to look it up.
@BeeG35: I will definitely check out lace fingtertip and cathedral veils, thank you. My friend also suggested doing lace to match the dress.

I think a cathedral length plain tulle would be great.

I would go with one that ends around the area where the flare begins. Butt-length-ish.
Or a french net tiny one that only goes over your nose

I’d personally go with fingertip – they come in different cuts, so look around! Good luck!

I think either a raw-edged fingertip veil, or a raw-edged plain tulle cathedral veil. You could do a small hair jewel where you fasten the veil to your hair.

Especially since outdoors you will have dramatic “wind” shots with the veil!

I wore a fingertip veil with my mermaid gone and thought it was the best choice. Since your wedding is outside I would also not go any longer, yes you could have dramatic shots, but it will more likely get in the way or hang awkwardly down…btw love that dress!!!!

Thanks everyone for your input and advice! I’m going to research different looks with the fingertip and cathedral veil lengths. I’m just hoping that I’m not going on a tulle overload since my skirt is full of it. Do u think it matters or no? I am leaning towards a fingertip veil.
What do you think of this? I found it via Etsy.

i’m wearing a mermaid and wearing a fingetip length veil. . . i feel like it’s just enough.

Great veil and goes perfectly with the dress, because it is so simple and elegant (and not too mucg bling;)). I also ordered the veil on etsy-it is just so much cheaper and veils kinda all look the same anyway. However, I only wore mine for the ceremony, but not for the recpetion and majority of the pictures.

@madteaparty: I totally agree that it’s just enough. 🙂
@Ilovetruffels: What u said is exactly what I have in mind. Yes, I’m only planning to wear the veil for the ceremony… and maybe for a few pics. I want to maybe do a different headpiece for the reception (something more fun, like a headband maybe?) or just keep the applique on the side of my head. I’m not sure yet.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUT! I was going to ban a veil altogether, but my mom convinced me otherwise.
