I am very glad I picked a half channel set band in the end.  I like the sparkle it adds, I think it just enhances my solitaire!  Plus since it was only half way around I could still engrave my wedding band 🙂

@mscuppycake:   Girl I simply lost my mind looking at your ring.  I’m a silolitare girl myself.  I can’t offer much help cuz my set in a pave style which was paired with a matching wband that I had custom made.  But forget me…. The way your diamond is set is stunning. I honestly could not see you going wrong with a blingy band or plain …. Your stone will always take center stage.   What a beauty. Wink

Just to share my ring , here’s a pic of her.

@mscuppycake:  Would TWO wedding bands be out of the question? You could get one with diamonds and one plain, and wear them all together or one at a time. That’s not what I have so I can’t share a pic, but there are a lot of ladies here who have that combination and it looks amazing!

Your ring is gorgeous! I love how diamond bands compliment solitaires. I think an eternity or 1/2 eternity band would be a perfect match for your e-ring! Happy shopping! 😀

@mscuppycake:  Beautiful ering! What in think would be pretty is a thin diamond band like HuskerGirl. It adds some sparkle but is thin enough (compared to her ering shank) to not take over.

I also think a 2.5mm shared prong diamond band would be very pretty.

I think when you try some on, you will know. I was determined that I was going for a channel set full eternity diamond wedding band. But when I tried rings on, I reverted to a completely plain band, which is much more common in the UK. I was really surprised because I was sure that I was going for a bling-y wedding ring, but at the end of the day that wasn’t want I wanted. Weird.

@RainStorm:  I agree! I had a similar experience with pave settings. I KNEW I wanted one, and we were ready to order, and I am so glad we tried them on in person, because on my hand they just didn’t look good.

I did try on some wedding bands, and liked either a plain band, or a larger 5-stone band (the smaller pave in my experience didn’t really stand up to the solitaire and seemed to take away from it, whereas the larger sized diamonds in the 5-stone complemented the solitaire nicely), although I still love the way pave bands and settings look on other people.

I have a solitaire e-ring with a half channel set wedding ring. I originally wanted a plain band but just fell in love with mine! I don’t think it detracts from the sparkle of the solitaire, it adds to it! However, whatever you choose will probably look weird at first because you’re used to just seeing your e-ring. I’m still getting used to it!

What kind of wedding band doesn’t go nicely with a solitaire.  You can seriously get anything.  I LOOOOVE the look of the shared prong eternity (or half) with the solitare.  I love it so much i sometimes wish my e-ring was a true solitaire without the diamonds on the band!

I have a full eternity channel set wedding band. My fingers shrink and swell depending on the weather and I didn’t want to have to think about lining up the diamonds in the winter when my rings tend to spin.
