@funkymunky85:  What about an intimate bed and breakfast where you two can enjoy the peace and quiet. the calm before the storm. There are some great little bed and breakfasts in Colorado

@globalmargaret:  Agreed!  Something romantic and relaxing that won’t cause you to be on your feet all day in case you get tired and/or swollen ๐Ÿ™  Maybe some sort of couples massage or spa treatment?  I hear there are great ones for pregnancy too!

I would consider a beach getaway, if you can afford it (lots of coastal getaways in California!). You can kick up your feet and watch the surf. I think SF has a lot of walking and I got tired exploring SF and I wasn’t pregnant! I don’t know what you are considering in NY, but if it is NYC, there’s a lot of walking too. Plus, smog is a consideration.

I went to NY a few times when preggers. It was rough. The walking made me swell up and it made me super exhausted.

How about Puerto Rico? We love it. It’s warm, full of history, and quite reasonably priced.

We just spent a long weekend in Carmel/Monterey, CA. It was gorgeous! I was 5 months pregnant and had no issues, since the weather was fairly cool. We went to Point Lobos State Nature Reserve, Carmel, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Fisherman’s Wharf, etc. You could sign up to take a day trip to San Francisco if you wanted.

We booked our hotel (The Portola Hotel & Spa) through Hotwire.com – it was $125/night, $146 a night with tax, but much better than their usual $250-350/night rate. We even got a balcony room with an ocean view. The location was great, right near the Fisherman’s Wharf. We used betterbidding.com and had a pretty good idea of what our hotel was going to be before we selected it. If you have any questions about using Hotwire or betterbidding, PM me.

Have fun whatever you do!

I’d suggest Vegas. I love going there and I’m not the drinking type, but I have tons of fun. Shows, the crazy hotels, restaurants, shopping…

@funkymunky85:  betterbidding.com is an informational site to help guide your purchases via Hotwire and Priceline… it shows you what prices other people have gotten and on hotwire, which hotels show which amenities (so you can try to figure out which is which).

I haven’t taken that train before… I imagine that would be okay… is it a super long trip? I flew from Baltimore, MD (east coast) to CA and it was okay, but a little uncomfortable at times. On the way home we had a huge delay and were stuck in the airport for an extra 6 hours and then on the tarmac for over an hour – plus the 6 hour flight… so that was a little much. I think as long as you can get up and walk around a lot and pee whenever you need to, you’ll be okay… that said, if it’s a long trip, I don’t think it would be very comfortable sleeping upright all night… so I would maybe get a sleeping car if it was a super long trip.

@funkymunky85:  I think a spa weekend sounds great. At 5 months, I was back to my typical amount of energy and generally felt great. However, I did have a decent belly at that point and had some difficulty getting comfortable in hotel beds and airline seats. I also had to pee a little bit more, eat a little bit more (and at regular intervals), and drink a little bit more (water). I wasn’t a happy camper when we sat on the airline runway with no water for 2 hours (should have brought my own) or when we weren’t allowed to get up to use the restroom… but overall it was fine. I would avoid 23 hours on a train without a sleeping car, but I’m not even sure I’d want to do that not pregnant.
