@minipenguin:  I think this is totally a personal aesthetic preference, but for some reason I feel like I prefer the veil to either be longer than the dress or shorter. So between those two I would go cathedral. Have you ever tried a ballet length veil? My dress was chapel length and I thought the whole time that I would do a cathedral veil, then when I tried veils on I fell in love with the ballet length. It basically went below back of my knees but not all the way to the floor. Here’s a pic from the back. If you have any detail on the train, I think it’s a nice option so you can show it off 🙂

@minipenguin:  You’re welcome! Have you tried veils on with your dress yet? I feel like sometimes it ends up looking different in person than you picture in your head — or at least it did for me, haha.

It depends on the tone of your wedding and ceremony space. A longer veil works better with a more formal, evening wedding.

Personally I think cathedral looks too long on a chapel-length train.  Aesthetically speaking, a veil should end three inches above-below some point of visual interest (backline, bow at waist, end of train, etc).

Without seeing your dress I have to say either chapel or finger-tip length would work best.  Ballet/waltz-length might also work well depending on the overall look.

@minipenguin:  I’m now wondering the same thing about my veil. What length have you chosen?

@minipenguin:  I bet it will look beautiful!! My wedding isn’t very formal (venue is an old barn conversion) and i’m struggling to decide what length veil – fingertip or chapel!
