We have bought charcoal suits for our groomsmen + the groom. This particular suit didn’t include a matching vest and finding a colour that matches exactly is proving to be a headache.
We have 2 options, one is a black vest. The other is a light grey vest. My groom really wants to wear one under his jacket, so not wearing one isn’t an option.
For some reason the black just doesn’t look right to me, what do you think? I’m not sure if it’s just the cut/size of the black vest, or if it’s the contrast between the black and the grey that’s bothering me. We’ll pair whatever vest we choose with a silver tie for the groom and a darker shade for the groomsmen.
Thanks in advance!

I like light grey a lot. I think the black looks like you’re trying to match two “different blacks.”

I’d go light grey (SO nice!) but would definitely add a tie. (you may have already thought of that but the pic didn’t show one so I thought I’d suggest it :))

Prefer the grey vest but with a tie, otherwise Black with a darker tie & a jacket

Sorry, should have mentioned that there will definitely be a tie, forgot to pop on one for the last photo! 🙂

The grey looks great! The contrast will set him apart as the groom. However, I think the vest should be a different fabric…more similar to the suit itself. I think men look great in vests! Especially when it gets hot at the reception and they take off their jacket, the vest still keeps them looking put together in pics!

@theone99: I adore the grey look with charcoal

Gray vest with tie, it is virtually impossible to match blacks and dark charcoal so just make it obvious you weren’t trying to.

@mr52: This. The black is too close to the charcoal that it just looks off. You either have to do matching or contrasting.

Thank you ladies, now to convince Mother-In-Law & my groom that the contrasting grey is the way to go!
