I haven’t 100% decided, but I’m most likely going to wear an Urban Decay tinted moisturizer and Cargo eyeshadow. Their eyeshadow lasts for a crazily long time, I would recommend it to anyone.

I’ve never MAC, though, but Lancome is okay.

The only thing I am FOR SURE using is Maybelline SuperStay Lip Color.  It’s amazing.  I have been trying colors for the last few weeks to get ‘the one’.  The color goes on, dries for 2 minutes and then you put on the long lasting gloss.  I work 10 hour shifts and it stays on the whole time.  Even with drinking and eating.  It doesn’t come off during a kiss either.

I feel like EVERYBODY is recommending MAC to me lately.  I only have a few lip glosses from them but am gonna give it a try because I’ve heard so many great things.  Also…. not sure if anyone else has heard this… but I normally wear Bare Minerals as my everyday makeup and have been told that it is not the best choice for pictures.  Anyone else heard this?

Advice from a wedding planner:

1)  Try your make up how you think you want it and then have someone take pictures of you smiling, laughing, and posing.  Sometimes things like shine level and lip shade show up different on film than they do in the mirror.

2)  Don’t go overboard on the make-up.  Your fiance loves YOU, and wants to marry YOU – not some overly made up couture runway version of you.

3)  Remember to wear WATERPROOF mascara.

4)  If you’re going to wear a new brand of make-up on your wedding day, start wearing it (at least periodically) 6-8 weeks before your wedding to give your skin a chance to adjust.  You don’t want to take the chance that you might break out from a new chemical formula.

I got a free sample of Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation.  It was perfect: great coverage but looked incredibly natural!  I also love my new Benefit Dallas blush; perfect for my skin tone.  I wore Maybeline Great Lash waterproof mascara, true to it’s name.  I bought a Nars lipstick that was the perfect color but was disappointed that it kept wearing off.

@MelBell11: I have read that Bare Minirals makes your face look shiny in pictures.

I wore Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, the oil-free kind, on my face for my wedding, and my skin looked really good in the photos–not like I was wearing makeup, just like I have nice skin! Normally my face is really greasy and comes off as hilariously shiny in photos, but it actually looked very matte, even in photos from the end of the night.

@kalliela: I LOVE Mac! I wear it on a daily basis. I use their foundation and mascara. I’m not really crazy about how the girls at Macy’s put in on b/c I think they wear a little too much but the coverage is wonderful! 🙂

If you have a Sephora in your area you may want to set up an appointment with a makeup tech (be warned you’ll have to buy $50 worth of product that day). One of my favorite makeup staples these days is Too Faced’s “Shadow Insurance”. It is THE BEST eye shadow primer I have ever used! I have oily eyelids and shadows used to melt off of my eyelids after a couple of hours. With the Shadow Insurance it stays on alllll day!

If you’re looking for a good mascara, DiorShow mascara is a must (available at Sephora). It’s a little on the pricey side, but worth every penny. I bought it for my wedding day, and I don’t think I’ll ever use a different brand mascara again.

Also, I use MAC for pretty much all my other makeup (foundation, primer, lipstick, etc…) and I really like it. If you hit a MAC counter, I think it’s worth it to have the makeup specialist figure out the right foundation (etc) for you, rather than guessing yourself. I think you have to buy $50 of product, but makeup adds up quickly anyhow. I always head there before a big night out… so at least getting all my makeup done up isn’t for nothing!

I am going to have my makeup done at a salon called planet hair here in Wichita Kansas. They only use Aveda products and I have yet to try any of them, but so far what im hearing from girls here in town they are the best of the best. My trial will tell me if thats true or not…In fact, if any girls have any experiece with Aveda please let me know!

DiorShow BLACKOUT Mascara is Amazing! I wear false eyelashes sometimes as well as plain mascara, and this mascara looks like I’m wearing falsies! So it is a nice alternative if you decide not to wear fake lashes or wear them together. Also, MAC make-up is awesome whether it be their lipsticks, lip gloss, eyeshadow, foundation, liner. And NARS blush is great (I use the color orgasm, its perfect on my skin tone with just a bit of shimmer)  Budget-Wise, Victoria Secret make-up is good too. Their bronzer is excellent, it’ll give you a summer glow in the winter 🙂
