What makes a wedding dress a wedding dress? I think it’s a simple as the dress that you’d like to get married in and your groom would like to see you in.(It’s an opinion, feel free to share yours)
I’ve seen some really beautiful dresses, Quinceanera dresses perfect for a princess wedding ceremony, Evening dresses perfect for an elegant reception…does the fact that thet’re not being sold under the name “Wedding Dress” bother me. Well no, and I should know better than caring what anyone else but my guy thinks…I should.
So I’m asking my fellow bees, is it wierd? To be married in a Quinceanera dress mostly? An evening style reception dress isn’t so wierd, besides I’m more drawn to a trainless full lace trumpet or a satin sheath – both with exceptional sparkle. I guess that’s why I’m drawn to Quinceanera dresses, you just can’t get more princess than that!
P.S. – sorry for the near-ranting (my guy says i do that alot)
So I’d love to hear the thoughts of my fellow bees on the matter, thoughts?

your wedding dress is the dress you get married in. Plain and simple.

A wedding dress is a dress in which you get married.
Wear whatever makes you feel special!

I voted that brides should wear whatever they want. Having said that, though, I think if you’re going to veer away from the traditional colours and styles, you should think carefully about how you’ll feel a few years from now. It’s easy to pick a totally crazy style because it’s what “in” right now, but if it’s something that will look dated 10 years down the track, maybe go for something more traditional.
On the other hand, if it’s something you look and feel great in, then go for it!

It’s what you get married in. At my mom’s wedding, she wore a dress she made herself from this beautiful Indian print calico, and her sister wore a very pale yellow dress that looks white in pictures. You can STILL tell my mom is the one getting married…

Really interesting question! One of my friends says the dress you pick should be special enough that you wouldn’t wear it for any other occasion.

Your wedding dress (and even bridesmaid dresses) should be whatever YOU love, whatever YOU feel comfortable, beautiful and special in!!
I answered D b/c I purchased a replica dress from China, that I never tried on the original or any dress like it, online for 1/8 the price. I love it! Also, my bridesmaid dresses are $53 dresses (on sale) from Express.
Do your own thing, girl, and ROCK IT! People will respect that. 🙂

I say it’s whatever you want, doesn’t even have to be a dress.

I would say any dress that makes you feel like a bride is a wedding dress.

On the bandwagon here–it’s the dress the bride wears on her wedding day to get married in.

what makes a wedding dress is that a bride wears it to her wedding. I think it can be any color, length, fit, etc I might not like all styles I have been seen but I do think if a bride is wearing it at her wedding it is HER wedding dress 😀

I have seen prom dresses that could pass for wedding dresses easily! My grandmother got married in a short but modest blue dress. Wear what cha want!
