Since what I want is really simple, I thought it would be a simple undertaking to make my own veil but Im having a hard time with the fabric. Im totally in love with silk tulle but I just cant justify the cost. I’d love a simple, one piece, drop veil like the photos below. Does anyone with more experience than me know what materials these are, bridal illusion, tulle, organza?

The one with the garland looks like silk tulle. (It looks like a Twigs & Honey one to me)
The bottom one looks like it could be illusion.
Bridal illusion is a kind of tulle, but the density in tulle can be as fine as bridal illusion, all the way to Russian netting. There are also different stiffnesses to tulle; soft like netting, to stiff like ballet tutus.
Organza tends to be very opaque (when it comes to veil materials) and stiff, especially polyester organza.
The basic nylon stuff is *extremely cheap*. I made a DIY mockup for about $5 worth of bridal illusion, and had more left over.
I purchased two yards of 100% white silk tulle from Britex a few months ago at around $250. There are silk blends available on Etsy and other places that would be less.
Why not stop into a fabric shop to check out different fabrics? You might not be able to get swatches of silk tulle, but you should be able to get samples of bridal illusion and organza. If you don’t live near a fabric store, Mood Fabrics has an awesome swatching service and lots of choices.

Thanks for the guidance, Anise.
Ive been searching all over the internet and comparing these to other veil photos. I believe the top image is a soft tulle blend because it doesnt seems to be as stretchy as silk tulle. The caption where I found the bottom image calls it organza but i have a hard time believing that because organza is typically not that transparent and can not be left as a raw edge, its fabric not netting so it will fray (i know this image doesnt show that the edges are raw but a second image from the original post does)
I’m going to a fabric store this weekend to see in person what the body of bridal illusion looks like. I also ordered some english net on etsy which is supposed to be a cheaper alternative but similar in look and feel to silk tulle. I’ll post an update when I get both and let you know which is best.
