@gabrielleelise1981: I have only not had two as well and one being ostrich the other was frog. I would highly suggest bear it is very tender and great in stews and chilis.

Real shark fin is REALLY good. But VERY expensive. Most of the shark fin you buy nowadays is mixed in with a lot of crap. The more real content the pricier, obviously.
I actually love shark fin soup.

    I LOVE all seafood!!!

My theory is if you have had a type of fish that is too fishy it’s probably not fresh or cook right!

I miss my fresh steamed fish. One of the big things I miss about NYC. ๐Ÿ™

@Gerbera:  I know the feeling.  I moved from a small island in Japan to Dallas.  I went from going to the grocery store and finding octopi in a dry box in the refrigerated section that were still moving because they were so recently caught…  to “Oh, it was only caught last week.  That’s fresh, right?”

I only eat poultry and seafood. As a child though I had beef from my grandparents ranch and wild game my father caught like deer, elk, and moose. I’m pretty plain jane when it comes to meat these days!

    @GreenEyedMoon:

    ๐Ÿ™ It’s very sad, really.

    Does Dallas have a Chinatown?

I can’t even imagine how amazing the seafood is in Japan.
I still remember when I went back to China with my mom after HS Graduation. We visited a small island village. There was a restaurant mere steps from the dock. The fish was caught there then put into the tanks at the restaurants. You could go look at the tanks and specifically pick which fish / seafood you wanted. They cook it right then and there. Most AMAZING seafood EVER.

Really, I feel sad for people who’ve never had any seafood live beyond lobster!

We have locally one big asian market that has had fish tanks installed for months! But still to date no swimming fishies. I can’t wait!!!

@Gerbera:  It does have a small one, and I’m only minutes away from an awesome Korea town, but all the fish still has to travel from the coast to get here.  Not the same.

Anyway, back on topic…  Meat.  Any Australian brides here?  Have you had kangaroo?  What’s it taste like?

I should say that I have knowingly eaten less than what I have unknowingly eaten….

My dad hunts, so as a child I ate a lot of things that I didn’t know I was eating at the time. The main things I know *now* that I have eaten but didn’t know at the time were rabbit and squirrel… My dad just cooked them and we ate it… I was little, so I had no idea.

Knowingly, I typically only eat chicken/turkey, beef, pork, and deer meat… That’s just what I order or what I cook myself.

I’m not a major meat eater (I eat it, but not copious amounts of it) but when you grow up in a house where it’s not uncommon to walk into the garage and see a dead deer strung up from the ceiling, it’s kind of hard not to get used to having it in your diet.

I’ve tried most everything on the list, but I’ve also eaten shark and snake.

I’ve tried most of these except for goat (which I would definitely try if the opportunity came up), bear, alligator/crocodile and snakes or turtles. I don’t care for white meat and have pretty much stopped eating poultry altogether (I’ll eat turkey on Thanksgiving, but that’s about it), but I do enjoy beef and lamb and eat them occasionally. I looooove lamb in Pakistani food especially… yum!

I have tried them all. Liked them all. I really prefer game meat to supermarket meat any day. Proper cooking techniques are absolutely essential with game meat. And my husband is hunting bear this week, although it is realitively rare to get one. They seem to know what’s up!

What, no dog or donkey on this poll? ๐Ÿ˜‰

Okay, I’m not surprised, but I have eaten both, in addition to quite a few on your list.

I ate goat in Jamaica. The texture made me dislike it ๐Ÿ™
