@Arshim:  There is only one option showing up in the poll?

I was planning on doing white gold all along because I didn’t feel the need to pay the extra money for platinum and palladium was too new at the time, I didn’t feel like there was enough research/justificaiton to feel that the extra price was worth it for that either. In terms of the karat, the setting I chose was 18K so that’s how I ended up with that. My wedding band is 14K. DH’s wedding band is 10K which we chose specifically because it is harder and less likely to bend/break. He is very hard on his hands so that was a concern for me. It was very important to him to have a wedding band that was a precious metal because precious metal rings are mentioned in the traditional vows that he’s heard. We used those vows as well.

@Arshim:  18kt pallaidum-white gold. Best of both worlds, super shiny bright white like white gold, but without needing to be replated. A few scratches on the bottom because it is soft like other 18kt gold, but overall it has worn pretty well.

ETA: I’ve had my ering for almost 4 years, my wedding band for just under one.

I didn’t have any say in the metal of my rings. Since it was a surprise engagement.

I went with palladium because I didn’t like how heavy platinum was and I’m allergic to evverything . I also like how low maitainence it is. I’ve had my ring for 6 months and I’ve had no reactions. There’s a bit of patina on the smooth part of the band by my palm, but you can’t tell on the rest of the ring because of the engraving.

Mine is platinum. When we were ring shopping, I didn’t anticipate getting platinum-I thought it would be out of our budget. However, the jeweler we used explained that e-rings should definitely be in platinum, since the metal doesn’t wear away as WG does…She said that they actually don’t do e-rings in white gold, which I thought was interesting. I tried on a WG e-ring at another jeweler before we went to the one we ended up using, and it felt too flimsy to me. My setting is smaller, and WG just felt “eh” to me. When I felt the weight of the platinum and saw that the price wasn’t as bad, it was a no brainer. FWIW-my setting is almost exact to the Blue Nile Nouveau, and theirs is $2,150 and mine cost around $1,500-same metal, abt same ct weight. So, we got a great deal. Here’s a pic

I chose 14k rose gold because I think the color looks very good with my skin tone, and because rose gold e-rings are sort of different. I would have gone with platinum otherwise because I think white gold looks too white.

My e-ring is platinum. It belonged to FI’s great-grandmother and is almost 100 years old – it’s holding up beautifully!

Platinum. I am metal sensitive and didn’t want to deal with redipping, metal wearing away, prong issues, etc.

Mine is palladium and I love it! It does seem to scratch a little easier than my white gold rings but a little buffing with my polishing rag and she shines like brand new again! I also like that it looks a little whiter than platinum rings when placed side by side.

Mine is palladium. All the advantages of platinum and our jeweller charged the same for palladium as they did for white gold. I love it and would recommend it but I have been finding it difficult to find a wedding ring.
