June 1 for me. I would have gotten married the month following our engagement had my Fi. allowed it. But he wanted a year long engagement so we could save and have a proper wedding (he’s so old fashioned that way, hehe) and he also wanted to be able to have a honeymoon – and as it was, all his vacation was booked when we got engaged.

June 1st was simply the first Saturday, past that 1 year mark, that worked for us ๐Ÿ˜›

We had ours in July since Darling Husband is a teacher and we had a limited window in time where we would be able to have our wedding and go on a honeymoon right after (without it interferring with his school schedule).

Late June worked with both of our schedules.  Not very romantic!

August 17. Fiance chose it. People where I’m from would not be busy with vacations, school is still off and that is a good thing. We would love for our entire family and friends to calebrate our day with us.

We originally thought we’d get married in October, but then I was like, oh yeah, I work during the school year!

I picked July because it gave us enough time to save money (we got engaged the year before in Aug). It also gave the two people in our bridal party who are getting married this year enough time before their fall weddings.

We had no personal ties to the month or the date that we picked.

I chose October because the grounds of the place where we’re getting married are beautiful and I’m hoping the leaves are somewhere near their peak.  Hopefully, we’ll be able to have the ceremony outside and get some pictures outside too.  Fingers crossed for good weather.  ๐Ÿ™‚

    • Wedding: December 2010

We picked December 11th, 2010. Our 4 year anniversary was on the 15th of that month. So we picked a day close to that.

I later found out my grandparents was married on December 11th (not sure of the year.) & Also my Mom & Step Dad got together on December 11th, 1999.

We’re March – wanted an October wedding but got engaged in February and our venue was booked through November. We wanted to get married ASAP (but not in winter) so we chose March figuring we’ll hope and pray it doesn’t snow! ๐Ÿ˜‰

I always envisioned having a June wedding, but we ended up choosing May for two reasons — historically much lower temperatures for our outdoor wedding, and the convenience of having DH’s two minor children still in school while we were on our honeymoon (making the arrangements for their care while we were away easier for their mom, who very kindly was willing to exchange some custody days with Darling Husband.)

The funny thing is, although there had been a 20+ year history of temperatures being in the 70s for our wedding date (I researched this before choosing a date), the temperature was 96 degrees on our May 22 wedding date in 2012! Oh well. ๐Ÿ™‚

One downside to having a May wedding:  I encountered a great deal of difficulty in securing the desired transportation I wanted for Darling Husband and me that day. I originally wanted a white Rolls Royce, but those I found were booked for proms.  Likewise, most of the limo companies I contacted informed me that I would need to pay for an 11-hour rental (when I only needed a limo for three hours), because that is the price they could command during prom season.  I was so thankful when the owner of a small limo company actually told me that her company does not “penalize the brides” when they choose to get married during prom season.

December. I always wanted a winter wedding (although it was sunny and 65 on our wedding day, yay Texas) and husband said he didn’t care, so December it was. We absolutely refused any time between May and September simply because of the heat. Summers are brutal around here and we just didn’t want to deal with it.
