If I had to have just one ring, it would have to be platinum and with a cushion, and no halo.

When we were first engaged, my only “requirement” was that it be from the man I wanted to marry. And we were married with that ring for years.

When he suggested upgrading, I suddenly became very picky, even though I didn’t want anything that unusual or elaborate. I wanted a diamond in a yellow gold cathedral, but who knew they could be so different and things could be so complicated? It just had to match the picture in my head!

I had to have a black diamond, ive wanted one for ten or so years. I also wanted a basket setting and white gold or platinum.

a low setting and a plain shank were my must-haves!  but Fiance refused to shop without me, so I got exactly what I wanted.

Fun thread!

Platinum, secure center stone, vintage details, thin shank, halo, full basket to allow for a gap with wedding band. I found the perfect ring!!

@oOmrsstopaOo:  I wanted a solitaire round cut diamond with a tapered band. Fiance is a good listener:

@oOmrsstopaOo:  My requests were:

-Platinum solitaire

-4 prongs

-Wedding band to sit flush or nearly flush (small gap okay)

I tried on about a billion rings, and ended up sending him a pic of the only one I truly loved on my hand. Which I actually did NOT like when I saw it online, haha. I thought we were using a family stone (emerald cut), but he surprised me and bought a new round brilliant cut.

I really wanted platinum, classic styling and a high-quality diamond (Ideal Cut, D-F Color, IF-VS2 Clarity) in either a round, cushion or emerald cut. DH did well and gave me everything I wanted plus a nearly 2 carat stone and a Tacori setting!

I wanted no white metal, no solitaire, no round brilliant or square, no white center stone. As it is, we’re in the process of designing my ring and it’s exactly what i want. Rose gold, pear padparadscha sapphire with a halo and twisted shank. I’m so excited!

@MelissaMajoria:  Haha having tiny fingers is a nightmare!!! Sales people in righ shops just look at me in disbelief. I tendes I get it out the way early, wait for the gasp, then carry on discussing rings! Nearly all if the rushed to get their ring sizers to see if I was telling the truth!

I only wanted two things: 1. Platinum 2. Colorless diamond.

I got both! The color grade is D and I couldn’t be happier with my Tiffany ring! I love my solitaire beauty!

Huh. Funny how we know in our head but it can be hard to define!

Mine is going to be both my engagement ring and my wedding ring (well, technically my wedding ring and no engagement ring – my choice, I only want one ring!), so it’s definitely not traditional. Above all, it has to be practical because I do intend to wear it constantly. I want it very low profile, and no sharp edges that’ll catch on things. I definitely want some yellow gold, or a two tone yellow-white gold. I’d like it feminine (flowy/curvy) but not over the top. Not diamonds: moissanite, and I’d love a bit of color (fancy color sapphire – I had my heart set on alexandrite but considering the cost and rarity I doubt that’ll happen!). There are a lot of stones I love but the one(s) in my ring has to able to stand up to the daily beating, so that does limit the choices… Stone shapes I love trillion, pear, round… And, last but not least, I don’t want us to spend a fortune on it.

It sounds like a tall order but it makes sense 1000% to me! And SO loves the idea and the ones I show him 🙂 yay!

My only requests were that we pick it out together, it be yellow gold, either solitaire or vintage and sapphires rather then diamonds. Oh well.
