So after painstakingly scouring the internet for the perfect invitations for months, changing my mind several times on which ones I want or exactly how much I want to spend, I ordered my invitations right before thanksgiving. I went through the proof approval process last week and today I get an email from them. I was fully expecting it to say that my order has shipped. But instead, it was them telling me that the invites I picked are discontinued.
ummmm. what? can they do that?
Seriously? I’m so upset right now I can’t even begin to think of how to start all over again trying to find invites. I honestly feel like I’ve looked at everything out there in my price range.
Ugh…ok so after my mini-meltdown it’s time to put my big girl panties on and start looking again. Any suggestions ladies? I’m looking for 100 invites for less than $350(including envelopes and RSVP cards).

I would push back. Do you have a contract with them? I don’t understand why they would go through rounds of proofs if they were discontinuing the invites. Did you order through a third party?

I agree. I would assume you actually placed and order with them before you went through the process of reviewing proofs. If this is the case I would assume they would be required to fulfill that order.

Yes, I placed the order, but they didn’t charge my card yet, so I’m not sure what rights I have in this situation. As far as them being a third party…I’m not really sure. They said that they checked with their vendor and the invites are discontinued. So i guess that makes them a thrid party…but does that change the situation any?

Maybe you can put an alchemy request on Etsy with pictures of the invitation suite you love and someone can make them to match!

wow…unfortunately it sounds like you’re out of luck. it seems very strange they wouldn’t have checked before though. weddingpaperdivas has a lot in your price range.

Can you post a pic of your invites? I’m pretty sure I have clicked through every invitation site on the web while searching for mine. (Also, I asked about the third party because I was trying to figure out HOW they could be unaware the invites were discontinued)

@Kitty285: Oh, that stinks! I would be so frustrated.

Here is my rough mock-up of what they looked like. The grey border is what I’m looking for, or something similar:

@Kitty285: how aggravating!!! is this someone on etsy or a regular site? you should send it to reputable etsy invitation sellers as an alchemy request and explain your situation… maybe they can do it

I second using Etsy alchemy. I had a designer redesign an invitation suite for only $15. Then you can have it printed locally, print it yourself, or have it printed through somewhere like VistaPrint. If you’d like the name of the etsy designer we used let me know! She’s wonderful!
