So this morning my mom called me to tell that she couldn’t move her foot after she had fallen on the stairs last night (she lives alone so she just went to bed assuming it’d get better in the morning thinking it was just twisted or something). I live two hours away so I had to call my brother to wake him up. After going to the hospital, we found out she had broken her heel. I didn’t know you could break your heel. I also didn’t know it took three months in a cast to fix it. So I learned today that you can break your heel and now we’re going on to learning how to decorate a cast for a wedding. We’re glad she’s fine though, it could have been much worse.

Glad to hear she’s okay! Yikes.

One of my sister’s bridesmaids broke her foot at the rehearsal dinner!!! She wore a flat dress shoe on the other foot and her crutches were decorated with streamers and stuff. I hope your mom is feeling better. I’d imagine a hurt heel is pretty painful.

Ugh foot injuries are the worst! I feel for her, I’m glad it was nothing worse. I’ll bet she’s going to definitely need some help though.

Yes, you can break it and they are a crazy fracture to have. People who break their heels also have to worry about injuries to their lumbar spine too, since it can absorb the impact from the fall. How about a black lace stocking with a great pattern in it! I think you could have lots of fun with it.

So for those of you that are curious, she’s doing fine, she just has to take pain medicine a lot more often than she thought. She said it’s the worst injury she’s ever had and that she goes to the doctor next week to see if she needs surgery. Most of it was a simple fracture but there’s one piece that needs to be looked at further. And I do like the idea of the stocking. I think she also mentioned ribbons and something sparkly. She definitely wants to make it beautiful for the wedding and should be more skilled on crutches by then (she said she hates the pain but also hates taking forever just to reach the bathroom or get water).
