I’m sticking with my Russian last name.  🙂  FI’s SUPER Italian last name just sounded too odd with my very Russian first name.

I’m going from a Bohemian last name to an Irish one. But I look Irish anyways so I doubt anyone will think a thing of it 🙂

My maiden name was one of the top 20 most common surnames in the US and it has English origins.  My new name is also English, but it’s ranged over 19,000… so hardly anyone has heard of it before.

Went from a Welsh/English last name–popular (think a famous “muffin”) to a seriously Mexican/Latino/Spanish last name (think A-“Rod”).  Needless to say, I don’t think I’m dark enough for my new last name!

I will be going from an Irish last name to a British last name.  I will be hyphenating them.

I’m going from a not-very-heard-of Hispanic last name to a very popular Hispanic last name, hehe.

@deetroitwhat: I am also now a “Rod”

I’m going from a very simple Welsh last name to a more complicated German last name.  My married name is shorter than my maiden name… but it’s difficult for people to pronounce.

I’ll be going from a German last name to an English first name. I seriously can’t wait to change my name, my new one is so much more fun, lol.

I didn’t change my last name.  I have a chinese last name and hubby has a german last name which translates to “White”.

like previous posters experiences, i figured if i did change my last name, i’d probably really puzzle some people or get some odd looks.

Same! I’m Korean with a common Korean last name, and my FI’s name is Irish. The best part? He was ADOPTED from Korea, and so our daughter is 100% Korean. The looks on people’s faces when they find out that this Asian family is the owner of the very Irish name… lol.

I now have a hyphenated Turkish-Irish last name. I’m pretty sure I’m the only person in the world with that name.
