Oh I like this thread! I recently had to leave home for awhile to do research abroad, so I made him a really fancy meal before I left. Then I treated him to froyo. He was very happy. Perhaps not a big thing, but the little things count, right?

@giru618: Right, it is the little things that go along way.

I bought mine some of his favourite sweets.

I try to do things for him all the time, especially since I’m a stay at home parent and he works outside the house.  I make sure to cook great meals most nights of the week for when he gets home and I pack him a nice lunch and pick up his favorite treats to unwind with.  When I’m out running errands and see something he may like, I purchase it for him.  I try to stay on top of what he needs (new shirts, say) and pick those up so he doesn’t have to think about it.  I like to plan at home date nights for us, too.  The girls and I like to come up with family “date nights”, where we may have a picnic on the livingroom floor or eat outside or something different so that he can spend more “fun” time with the kids.  I also plan getaways for us frequently so he can really enjoy his time off work.

Darling Husband was gone for a week with work and when he came home I had little gifts placed strategically around the house; his favorite box of cereal in the pantry, a new pair of jeans in the closet and two new pairs of boxers. It was cute because he didn’t find all the gifts at once.

Well I just said “thank you” when he brought me breakfast in bed. Does that count?? 🙂

Im with @giru618:  and @CatyLady:  its the small things like picking up his favorite ice cream flavor on my way home from work.

Mine had major  emergency surgery about two weeks ago and was in the hospital for a week, has been home for a week and will be home for another week. I have been taking care of him, as I would no matter what. BUT as a nice gesture I get him all the little things he loves to make him feel better/keep him busy (his favorite iced tea, making his favorite meal, getting him a new video game, etc).

I only see Darling Husband >18 hours/week right now, because he’s working away from home (June-August). On the night/morning he does visit, however, I always cook for him. He’s a chef, so when he’s home during the other months, he’s in the kitchen. I think he likes the break (and the fact that I try–I hate cooking (baking is more my style), so he should be happy, lol). I also bake him treats for when he gets here, and just bought him 3 pairs of Under Armour shorts, just because I know he likes ’em.

@Artificial-Sweetener:  Mine is totally wedding related.  He has been so good about allowing for all the things I really wanted at the wedding so I decided we needed a few “his” decisions.  So I booked the below bus for us and bridal pary transportation the day of the wedding.  MY FH was over the moon about my choice and 2 weeks later is still asking “are you serious? you’ll allow this at the wedding?” If you knew us, you’d totally understand this is a him thing and not at all a me thing, LOL.  I’m just glad he’s getting excited for the wedding now and he’s even looking forward to pictures with it!!

Now i feel terrible, i havent done much nice for him hahaha

to be fair, im just letting him take care of me for a bit as this pregnancy is pretty much wrecking me. now im leaving first tri it’s meant to get better – no more mood swings, sadness, nausea, headaches, tiredness etc. then ill work on a ‘do something lovely for him’ plan. i am very appreciative of his efforts though?
