Mine is about 30% of my budget. But it also includes all the flowers, centerpieces, table linens, china… the list goes on. 🙂

My all inclusive is 50% but that includes everything but the flowers.

Our potential venue is free but you must take basically everything with them which includes food, linen, drinks. Comes up to about 60% of the budget.

Sorry my vote is wrong, I put the % of my TOTAL reception (53%), my venue cost is under about 3%.

I answered the poll wrong!  Lol.. I said 30-50%, but my venue includes all the drinks, food and location.  the venue-rental price was only 2% of my budget.  P.S. Barns are REDICULOUSLY overpriced.  I really wanted one, but could not shell out the $$ for the rental alone!

Ours is $1350, so just over 20% of the budget, but includes tables and chairs, two rooms to get dressed in, and we get it from 10am to midnight. We totally went through sticker shock when we looked at all the venues in our area!

A couple of things to factor in… some venues won’t let you bring in your own alcohol – or will make you hire a licensed bartender (add $100 or so)… also, many of them would give us the venue for 4pm to midnight or so, which wouldn’t give us much time to set up/decorate. We almost went with getting space in a local park until we realized that renting a tent, having it set up and renting tables and chairs would cost the same. Welcome to the wedding racket 🙂

My advice: if you can make the $350 place work for you, then do it! But… check in about the $850-$1800 jump. It might have been the magic ‘wedding’ words that caused that… (you could get someone else to call and ask for  a quote for a family reunion).

I think it’s hard to compare, because every venue includes different things in their rate. For example, our venue is 50% of our budget, but that amount includes catering, chairs, alcohol, linens, rentals, and etc.
