I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. My husband and I both work in the Entertainment/Production industry in Los Angeles and have been for the past 5 years. I’m a commercial production coordinator and Darling Husband is a Post-production project manager. We are planning on moving back to MA within the next two years and i just have NO IDEA what kind of jobs we will be able to find given our experience. Production doesnt exist out there like it does here. Sure there are a small handfull of companies throughout new england but theyre extremely hard to find and get jobs at.
i’m not expecting to do the same job i do currently because i know that market doesnt exist there but do any of you have any advice on what kind of jobs we would qualify for? we both have bachelors degrees in communications/media and have consistently worked in production for the past 5 years. Is there anything you can think of doing now that would make me more marketable on the east coast? I would love to work at an Ad Agency but those jobs are even harder to find and way more competetive.
if any of you have worked in production you know there isnt really a job description for what we do. every job is totally different and you have to learn to deal with a plethora of bizarre situations that come up and take care of all the “babies haaving temper tantrums” aka directors and agency/clients involved in the shoot.
I feel like i have a ton of useful skills but nothing that meets a pre-req for any particular job.
Do you have any advice or ideas of what i could do withthis sort of experince?
