so I have been taking pills for the past 3 years and stopped because I want to lose weight before the big day. FI is fine with that and have been using condom. We both don’t want kids for the first two years after marriage.
Is there any other way other than pills and condom that does not make me gain weight?

@gpiglet: I use the mirena IUD. There’s a non hormone option IUD called the paragaurd as well.

@gpiglet: If you learn about your cycle and are willing to track your cycle’s symptoms (daily temperature and consistency of cervical mucus) you can have sex for most of the month without being on birth control and just use condoms during your fertile period. It has the same success rate as hormonal/artifical BC when used properly 🙂 I read a book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility and Fiance and I plan on using this method.

I would get the Paraguard IUD! No hormones at ALL.
Though I lost weight on the NuvaRing, and I have a few friends who did, too!

I have cramp problem when I have my period (normally first day). That was the main reason I was on pills for the past 3 years. It said it will worsen, can any bees tell me to what extend? Is it really bad?

@gpiglet: I gained weight going off of the pill. :-/
When I went off of the pill, I started to track my cycle and we used condoms during my fertile days. We bought a baby-comp to take my temp with and keep track of everything. We did it for about 5 months, before I decided to go back on the pill. Tracking seemed to work fine and with the baby-comp was really easy, but I’ve been consistently gainging weight since I stopped the pill and wanted to see if taking it again woudl help.

@gpiglet: I have the Paraguard (non hormone copper IUD). It’s awesome. It’s good for 10 years, you don’t have to remember anything, and no hormones = no weight gain. I haven’t had kids and it was fine putting it in. I mean, it definitely hurt, but 100% worth it.

May I know what brand are you taking for the pills?
I wish I can lose weight when I’m on pills. My weight jump like 15lbs ever since I’m on pills.
As soon as I stopped the pills, I dropped 7 lbs in one month

I have the Mirena as well. I will admit, it didn’t feel nice during insertion and I do get cramps every 3-4 months. But, all in all, I love it. I get my period about twice a year, if that, and I love that I don’t have to remember to take anything.

I have the Mirena (hormonal IUD). I haven’t had any weight gain and even though I haven’t had kids, I have no problems with it. They have a new one called the Skyla (I think) that is smaller and better for people without children.
I had a sharp cramp when insertion but it lasted a second and then it was over. I had some dull cramping the rest of the day and then I was fine.
I have no period at all with it but some cramping.

I use the NuvaRing and didn’t notice any weight gain. Everyone’s body reacts differently though.
