My venue doesn’t have any dishware included whatsoever so we’re trying to cut costs where we can on that line item. I have a relative who has a tonne of old mugs with designs for closed companies on them – so white with logos. I thought that I could paint over them and perfect, $150-$200 saved. However, for you artistic or DIY savvy bees, what type of paint would you ladies and gents recommend to paint over a mug like that? I really would not be comfortable using them as is without painting the logos off. Thanks for your suggestions!

I would suggest going to a craft store and finding food-safe spray paint 🙂 Spraypaint will be a lot easier and faster to use and the coats will come out a lot more even. I think they’ll turn out really cute!

As someone that paints pottery – this is a major project to get them looking nice. Most paint is toxic and not food safe so be careful. Martha Stewart had a line that’s at Michaels but I question how much it would cost to paint a mug with that especially if you’re going full coverage. I found my cups and saucers for sale from a closed resturant. Something like 55 for $10.
You can get some nice stickers printed up cheaply and perhaps they could just cover over the logos? It might be faster and more cost effective unless this project adds to your design.
