For me it is mixing my conservative political family, friends, coworkers, and politicos with his liberal union family, friends, and coworkers.  He has a biker coworker that is sweet as pie, but loves to be the shock value, how is he going to react with the big time politicos that are coming…..still keeps me up at night.

I think for me it has been the food and alcohol. It is really hard to try to please everyone’s pallette.

Trying to figure out who to invite!  Nearly everyone has to travel to get to our wedding as I’m from Chicago, Fiance is from Australia but with most of his family in England, and the wedding is in small town northern Wisconsin!   I don’t want people to feel obligated to attend by inviting them, but I don’t want to offend anyone by NOT inviting them!  Ugh, it gives me a headache just thinking about it.

@The Average Bride: I totally agree with you! I’m in invite hell right now…I wish I didn’t care about the design/font/paper/printing method. There are too many little details for me to have to decide. It’s like going to a restaurant that has a 20 page menu (like Cheesecake Factory), waaaaay too overwhelming. Oh, and flowers, same problem. I got a migrane with the florist and had to schedule another appointment to get through that process. I break out in hives just remembering that torture!

The food! The reception won’t be at a meal time, but there will be a lot of Out of Town guests. I feel like maybe I should serve a full meal for them, but then again, it’s not a good time to eat.

@The Average Bride: Finding the perfect venue. We wanted a marquee but it was giving me a headache, would’ve been perfect if I had money to throw at it. So we didn’t go ahead and have gone for some converted barns with excellent catering and beautiful grounds.

Mine would be the bridesmaid dresses.  Every time I find a good style it doesn’t come in the color I want or vice versa.  And half the time the color online looks awesome and in real life it’s a totally different color.

Photographer was the biggest headache for me. I wanted to make sure I found the best in my price range, and I drove myself crazy looking!

the dress. I just want to get one and move on. Three stops at the stores and nothing has impressed me. At all. I hate it. I cannot WAIT to move on!

Starting?

I want to start, but then I get overwhelmed by the thought that I know my family is going to be a pain about traveling anywhere that’s more than an hour away.

I want to rent a tour bus, but even then, I have a feeling that they’d find something to kvetch about.

And then I stop planning.

The dress shop. They hemmed my dress 3-4 inches too short, but were able to finally fix it. They also got all my bridesmaids and my mom’s measurements very wrong, all their dresses were way way too small.

The guest list!! Holy freaking Hell!! I never realized it was so important to invite your mom’s cousin’s son’s fiancee’s kid’s best buddy from preschool! And I was hoping for a small wedding 🙁 It’s been an on-going fight with our families for the whole 2 years we’ve been engaged. My side, actually more than his.
