    Our budget was $25,000 and just the venue, catering, and staff was $13,280. So, around 53% of my overall budget went to just food and a room to eat it in!

    At the end of the day, I think they ended up being about 65%, or around $10,000 of our $15-16,000 budget. (To this day, I do not know exactly how much we spent, but it was in that range.) Our venues and catering were pricey, but we weighted them with the most importance when we decided what our priorities would be. 

    But that % also includes bar, service charges, and gratuities since I can’t separate them out. We had a package deal that was flat rate per guest, so I can’t discern what portion was food vs bar, etc.

    It’s pretty standard to spend at least 50% on venue and food

    Most of the wedding budget worksheets I’ve seen say around 50% for venue+rentals+food+cake+beverages. Ours is a little close to 60%, but that’s because we are saving money on almost everything else.

    I’m at about 50%. But my total doesn’t include the cost of the honeymoon since my FH’s parents are picking up that tab.
