My mom has said on multiple occasions “that doesn’t go with your theme, you CAN’T do that.”
Well so sorry my lace dress doesnt fit what you would consider rustic OH and my roses don’t fit rustic. TOO BAD, I’m paying for it, I have a vision, it’s going to look the way I want.

/end rant

as an encore bride i get some of the worst ones! like the following:

” but its your second wedding why dont you just go to the court house?”

” You dont need a big wedding you did that the first time”

“really you should just go to the court house and have a brunch or something for your parents”

“Dont expect any gifts, thats just greedy” – ok yeah we did a registry but thats because my Maid/Matron of Honor insisted on throwing me a shower, and everything we have is second hand

” you know since its your second wedding dont expect many ppl to show up”

ok WE are paying for the ENTIRE wedding so if we want it big, its not your problem! also neither my fiance nor I had the weddings we wanted the first time around, so we want the wedding WE WANT!

We’re having a backyard wedding:

“But what if it rains?”

SO TIRED OF THAT QUESTION! Texas has been in a severe drought for several years. We almost never get rain, even when we’re supposed to. I am not predicting rain, but I am going to put a deposit down on tents just in case. Even with that, the property has a LARGE house, with a separate building on the property with 3 large rooms – basically three 2-car garages stuck together with walls and doors separating them. I plan to consolidate the things stored in them into one room, and decorate the other two for partying.

The worst part about the question is that not once has anyone ever had any suggestions. Just complaints and what-ifs. Sorry, I don’t have $5000 laying around to rent an indoor venue. On my budget I have to choose between 25-50 people at an indoor wedding, or 100 in a backyard wedding – I would rather celebrate with all of the people who are important to me, than be in some overpriced building that only gives you 1 hour to set up, and 3 hours to wed and party. Or requires their own $50pp catering. Or doesn’t allow alcohol. Or doesn’t allow music (seriously ran into that problem on one). Back yard means I get to do WHATEVER WE WANT, FOR HOWEVER LONG WE WANT!! 🙂

@JennyPPB:  When we were first in the beginning of planning people would say “Oh, but you have SO much time, why the rush to get things done?”

Yep, I get that a LOT. We’ve been engaged for seven months and basically have everything done, and I’m at the point now where I can concentrate on non-wedding stuff until pressing wedding things come up. It’s nice, and I know that I won’t have to scramble to get things done later.

I have a few… the first one, not exactly wedding related, but I dread when I feel someone is about to ask me how my fiance proposed.  I know that’s awful… and I’m glad they care, but it’s a long story and I’ve told it SO. MANY. TIMES.  I know I probably sound like a brat, and I’m sure I’ve done the same thing to other girls..  :/  I just feel like I need to tell the story into a tape recorder and play it everytime someone asks…haha!

Secondly, I’ve been engaged just a few days over 1 month.  I’m in the very beginning stages of planning, but I feel like I’m getting a lot done.  I’ve been to try on dresses 5 times and at every single place, they’ve asked me when my wedding date is.  When I tell them it’s August 2 of next year, they have this freak out.  “Oh my goodness…. you better pick one quick!  You know it can take anywhere from 3-8 months to finish alterations.. blah blah blah.”  Yes, I know I need to pick one.  Please don’t stress me out anymore.  Grr.

“Let’s just elope!”   From my fiance.  Everyday.  Glad he loves me that much but I want to have our wedding with all my friends and family there.  🙂

@smiles4jo:  +1000 Kudos to you, I LOVE Disney.

I can’t stand it when family and friends ask us “Why Cancun Mexico??” Like it’s some crazy strange foreign idea. His family scoffed, mine was perplexed. Well, people, it’s like this…because that is where we fell in love and it’s where WE want to get married. ‘Nuff said.

I also can’t stand to have people ask me “is it legit” because we’re not getting married in California. (Yes, it’s legit since we’re going to be legally married at the courthouse on tuesday.)

I should just start saying “no, our wedding’s a sham, we just wanted a fun excuse to do an adult spring break”

I get tired of the constant questions about why we’re not having our ceremony in a church or having a priest marry us.  Both of us were raised Catholic, but we’re having a secular ceremony.

– “You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want, but why aren’t you having your ceremony in a church?”

–  “Why aren’t you getting married by a priest?”

– “Isn’t your mom disappointed that you’re not getting married in a church?”

Oh, and after people find out we’re engaged, it’s the “Wow, took him long enough!,” “What took him so long to propose?” or “It’s about time”.  We were together 9 years before he proposed about a month ago.  What took him so long?  The fact that he was working on and completed his PhD in molecular and cellular biology.

The two things I hate hearing are: “Don’t sweat the small stuff” and “It’s all in the details”. Hello! These two statements completely contradict one another. How am I supposed to know which is right?!

Oooh you all have some GREAT ones that I’ve heard ooooover and over. I’ll add:

– Why didn’t you just go to the courthouse/elope? Weddings are expensive: ARE THEY?! GASP! Hey guy/woman, newsflash. We wanted a wedding sooo…yep that’s what’s happening.

– Well you should ____________: Yeah, no. You can when YOU get married. Yes, you sure can.

-Who gets married on a Friday??: This one right here Wink

@madteaparty:  Ahhhh I hear ya! I got the exact same thing all the friggin’ time!! One minute I would be fussed at for spending too much time on what were called “pointless” things (such as the program box, favor labels, etc.) and the next I would hear how wonderful it was that I was putting so much thought into the little things! It went on like this for months…uggh!

“Just wait you have time”- Yes I have time but I like to be on top of shit and get good ideas!

“I’m a bridesmaid right?”-No we haven’t talked in 6 months and my wedding is forever away

“Don’t worry about the guests its only about you and FI”-Um then why am I having a wedding? Yes it is about us but it is for the guests if I didn’t think about and care about them then I would elope!

“Why wait so long?”- Um why do you care? I know this is standard with a three year engagement but I hate having to explain it everytime someone asks when the wedding is.
